The shocking ending of Alice in Borderland Season 3 has surprised viewers and created possibilities for more of the popular Netflix series. The final scenes neatly prepare the way for a potential Season 4, but they also expand the world of Alice in Borderland globally, hinting at a possible US spin-off. This idea, however, seems to have upset fans of the original Japanese survival drama, who are worried about an American version being made.
Alice in Borderland fans react to Season 3 ending’s US spin-off hint
The third season of Alice in Borderland concluded with Kento Yamazaki’s Arisu and Tao Tsuchiya’s Usagi successfully escaping the terrifying game world. But their freedom was short-lived, as Usagi was kidnapped by an enigmatic scholar, compelling Arisu to return to Borderland to rescue her and their unborn child.
As a big fan, I was totally hooked by the post-credits scene! It turns out Arisu discovers a massive earthquake has completely wrecked Tokyo. But it’s even bigger than that – it quickly becomes clear the whole planet has been hit, with cities everywhere affected. Then, the scene shifts to Los Angeles and focuses on a waitress named Alice, which definitely feels like a hint at a possible Alice in Borderland US spin-off. I’m already excited! It leaves you wanting more, doesn’t it?
This news appears to have upset fans of the popular Netflix show, and many have taken to social media to share their disappointment. One user on X (formerly Twitter) posted, “I really dislike Netflix and their strange habit of adapting foreign TV shows into American versions. WE DON’T NEED ALICE IN BORDERLAND: USA VERSION. The original story was already good and had a satisfying ending.”
One viewer expressed a similar feeling, saying, “I just finished Alice in Borderland season 3 and, of course, it’s as good as the earlier seasons! My only complaint is that pointless AMERICAN scene at the end-it felt like a case of prioritizing the main character’s country. If they ever remake it in the US, I definitely won’t be watching-yikes.”
As of today, Netflix hasn’t made any official announcements regarding a US version or a fourth season of Alice in the Borderland.
