The popular fantasy series *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End* is coming back early next year with a second season. A new image has been released to announce the premiere, and the story will continue to follow Frieren, Fern, and Stark as they explore new and unknown territories, based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 to release in January 2026

The anime’s website and social media pages revealed that the show will air in Japan at 11 p.m. Japan Standard Time. The second season will debut on Nippon TV on January 16, 2026, and will be available to stream worldwide on Crunchyroll starting the same day. A new promotional image featuring the characters Frieren, Fern, and Stark was also released, hinting at what’s to come in their adventure.

The renowned Studio Madhouse is returning to animate the second season, and the original voice actors will be back to maintain the show’s quality and narrative flow. This season will continue the story directly from where the first one left off, based on the popular manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. Tomoya Kitagawa will direct this season, taking over from Keiichiro Saito, who directed Season 1.

Crunchyroll will stream the new anime series globally, including in India, shortly after it airs in Japan. It will be available with subtitles and dubbed in multiple languages. The show centers on Frieren, an elf mage, and her journey as she reflects on the short lives of humans while honoring the memories of her friends.

The show’s core creative team is back for another season, with Tomohiro Suzuki handling series composition, Reiko Nagasawa designing the characters, and Evan Call composing the music. The production team is focused on maintaining the same look and feel as before, ensuring a consistent visual and musical experience.

The story picks up after the heroes defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land, but now they’ve gone their separate ways. Frieren, who lives for centuries, begins to feel the weight of her immortality as she watches her friends and her new student, Fern, live much shorter lives. The second season will follow them as they journey to new places and face fresh obstacles, continuing to explore these themes of life and loss.
