Spoilers ahead for Wicked: For Good.
Movie musicals have a long history of success, including several winning the Academy Award for Best Picture. Jon M. Chu’s *Wicked*, currently available on Amazon Prime, was a popular film that received multiple Oscar nominations, and audiences are excited for its follow-up, *For Good*, coming in November. The latest trailer for *Wicked: For Good* hinted at some surprising plot developments, and now Ethan Slater has revealed details about his character Boq’s romantic life.
What fans know about Wicked: For Good depends on how much of a Broadway nerd you are. While I personally am a superfan who knows what to expect, casual moviegoers might not know where the story is going. But if they’re following Slater on Instagram, then they’ve just figured out that Boq will end up transforming into The Wizard Of Oz‘s Tin Man during the film. Check out his post below:

So, it’s now confirmed: Slater will be playing the Tin Man in the upcoming movie, *For Good*. It’s surprising to see such a major plot point revealed a month before the film’s release, but the director, Jon M. Chu, actually responded to the post revealing it, suggesting he’s okay with the spoiler. The post itself also highlights how impressive the character’s makeup looks.
The first *Wicked* film suggested there would be a surprise, and a quick search online revealed the fates of all the characters from the stage musical. However, I was still surprised to learn so quickly that Boq would become the Tin Man, especially with the release of *For Good* just around the corner.

You can now stream the first part of *Wicked* on Amazon Prime Video. New subscribers can enjoy a 30-day free trial, after which the service costs $14.99 per month. Alternatively, you can save 22% by paying $139 for a full year. See the deal here.
If the movie stays true to the stage version of *Wicked*, the character Boq will transform into the Tin Man when Elphaba revisits Munchkinland to see her sister, Nessa. This happens during the song “The Wicked Witch of the East,” which is being recorded for the first time on the *For Good* soundtrack. This song was left off the original Broadway album likely because it revealed major plot points about Boq and Nessa. The confirmation of this Tin Man reveal is therefore a significant departure from how the story has been presented before.
Just a quick reminder: you can watch the final trailer for *Wicked: For Good* again – it includes a quick glimpse of the Tin Man!
Everyone is incredibly excited for the upcoming Wicked movie, considering how popular and well-received the original stage show was. The trailer suggests that For Good will be an emotional experience, filled with both magic and music. It looks like it could be a major contender during awards season.
The secrets will finally be unveiled when *Wicked: For Good* comes to cinemas on November 21st, as part of the 2026 film schedule. We’ll just have to wait and see if any more details are leaked before then.
