Fionna and Cake Season 2 Will Bring Back This Beloved ‘Adventure Time’ Hero

A popular character from *Adventure Time* will be back in the second season of *Fionna and Cake*. The animated series, which premiered on Max in August 2023, expands the world of *Adventure Time* – the original show that started in 2010 – and continues its story. After only a few months, Max announced that the show would get another season, and now we have a big update about what’s coming in Season 2.

The second season of *Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake* will not only continue Fionna and Cake’s travels through different universes, but it will also bring back Finn the Human, a character fans have been waiting to see again.

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that a beloved character, referred to as “Ooo’s favorite hero,” will be central to the next adventure of Fionna and Cake. The story will focus on them trying to rescue him, with a character called “Huntress Wizard” playing a part.

Fionna and Cake join forces with Huntress Wizard on a mission to rescue Ooo’s most beloved hero. The series, *Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake*, features returning characters like Marshall Lee, Marceline the Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum, and Finn the Human, taking viewers to places they’ll recognize and entirely new worlds.

I’m so excited! The latest official statement totally backs up what artist Charmaine Verhagen showed in her storyboard. It pretty much confirms that Huntress Wizard is going to be a much bigger part of *Fionna and Cake* Season 2 than we originally thought!

Because Fionna and Finn didn’t meet in the first season, the upcoming season will finally bring these two versions of the adventurers together, which fans have been eagerly waiting to see in the world of Adventure Time.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about *Fionna and Cake* Season 2 before New York Comic-Con 2025, but early information hints that Finn’s return will significantly change the show.

During the first season, Fionna and her cat Cake learned their world was actually born from fanfiction within the Ice King’s imagination. This process removed all magic from their world once Simon, the Ice King’s former self, regained his memories. After a spell went wrong, Cake ended up in the Land of Ooo, and Fionna followed. Together with Simon, they were launched into a journey across different universes, constantly pursued by a powerful being named Scarab.

Their travels took them to different dimensions, facing the rule of powerful beings like the Winter King and the Vampire King. Throughout it all, Simon struggled with his sadness over losing Betty and the urge to take back his old power as the Ice King.

In the end, Fionna fixed her universe, making it officially real. Simon finally came to terms with Betty’s sacrifice, and while the three friends remained close, they each went their separate ways.

Fans mostly enjoyed the spin-off, even though some of the original actors, like Kumail Nanjiani, weren’t involved. Many viewers felt the new series was more grown-up and emotionally complex compared to the original *Adventure Time* episodes that started it all.

With such a strong reception, the focus now shifts to when Season 2 could arrive on HBO Max.

Fionna and Cake Season 2 Release?

Considering how long it took to make the first season of *Fionna and Cake* – animation finished in early 2023, before it premiered in August – many fans believe we might see Season 2 on HBO Max by late 2025 or early 2026.

We’ll likely hear more details, including a confirmed release date, next month at New York Comic-Con. A special panel on October 12th with showrunner Adam Muto and cast members Madeline Marti and Roz Ryan will offer a first look at what’s coming.
