I can’t believe it’s already the 20th season of *America’s Got Talent*! It’s coming to a close soon, and tonight we’ll see the final ten contestants give it everything they’ve got. They’re all competing for that amazing $1 million prize and a chance to perform in Vegas! Terry Crews is looking fantastic in a silver suit as always, and Simon Cowell is hoping the performers really bring their A-game. Tune in tonight and tomorrow to see who wins!
Join me as I watch the episode live and see who has what it takes to beat out the competition!
As the episode airs, comments will show up with the newest ones first, and the oldest ones last. Once the episode is over, the order will switch so you see the oldest comments first, then the newest.
The Season 20 Top 10
After months of auditions and several live rounds, including the quarterfinals and semifinals, we’ve finally narrowed down the competition to the Top 10. This year’s finalists include both incredibly talented singers and performers who aren’t afraid to take risks. Here’s a look at who made the cut:
- Mama Duke – Singer/rapper
- Micah Palace – Singer/rapper
- Chris Turner – Freestyle rapper
- Leo High School Choir – Singing group
- Jourdan Blue – Singer
- Jessica Sanchez – Singer
- Sirca Marea – Acrobatics duo
- Steve Ray Ladson – Singer
- Team Recycled – Dance group
- LightWire – Dance group
Out of the ten contestants, Chris Turner, Leo High School Choir, Sirca Marea, and Steve Ray Ladson didn’t receive a golden buzzer. Considering I usually support performers who aren’t singers or musicians-though I did enjoy Richard Goodall’s Journey covers-and with shows like *The Voice* and *American Idol* already available, I’m now hoping Sirca Marea will win Season 20. I’m also hoping Jessica Sanchez makes it through the final two episodes and can then focus on her pregnancy!
Jessica Sanchez Goes First
Jessica Sanchez, who was heavily pregnant, was the first contestant to perform on the AGT finale. After her powerful performance, Sofia Vergara described her as looking like a “pregnant angel.”
Even though I thought Season 20 used the golden buzzer too often and I generally prefer other types of acts over singers, Jessica Sanchez was a fantastic way to kick off the night. Simon Cowell pointed out that her performance felt even stronger than before, and he believed she deserved to return for this season.
LightWire Feels The Pressure By Going Second
LightWire quickly stood out on the show by receiving the first golden buzzer of the premiere, and they continued to impress, making it no surprise when they reached the finals. Their final performance felt very much inspired by the movie *Avatar*. I haven’t been particularly captivated by a dance group in several seasons – not since The Mayyas in Season 17 – but LightWire’s finale performance resonated with me more than anything they did earlier in the competition on *AGT*.
Even notoriously critical Simon Cowell seemed genuinely moved by LightWire’s performance, which is high praise, regardless of whether they ultimately win. He currently believes they should win, but it will be interesting to see if he still feels that way over the next ninety minutes as the show continues live on NBC.
Mama Duke Pretended To Be Mel B
Before performing her final original song on *America’s Got Talent*, Mama Duke shared that receiving the live Golden Buzzer from Mel B felt special, as she used to imitate the Spice Girl as a child. Regardless of what happens next – Simon Cowell believes this was a fantastic start to her career – it’s impressive that she made it so far performing her own music. It’s often easier for contestants to perform well-known covers on live television.
At first, I wasn’t sure she was performing at her peak during the finale, but she quickly found her groove and really connected with the music around the middle of her performance. Mel B was on her feet applauding before it was over, though Sofia Vergara didn’t seem completely won over.
