Predator: Badlands’ Alien Crossover Gets Disappointing Reveal From Director

Dan Trachtenberg, the director of the new movie *Predator: Badlands*, has discussed a potential link to the *Alien* film series. The logo was visible through the perspective of Thia, a character played by Elle Fanning, who is described as an artificial being created by the company.

Predator: Badlands director clarifies movie’s connection to the Alien franchise

The connection between Weyland-Yutani in ‘Predator: Badlands’ led some viewers to wonder if the new movie might include a Xenomorph. But director Trachtenberg has clarified that a major crossover with the ‘Alien’ franchise isn’t planned.

In a recent Empire interview, the director of the new Predator film, *Badlands*, clarified that it won’t include a Xenomorph. Instead, the story will feature the Weyland-Yutani corporation for reasons beyond just a crossover with the *Alien* franchise.

Director Trachtenberg confirmed this movie doesn’t feature the Xenomorph creature. He believes this actually enhances the story, explaining they didn’t want to simply combine it with the ‘Alien’ universe for the sake of it. Instead, the presence of Weyland-Yutani is driven by genuine and compelling narrative reasons.

Predator: Badlands was directed and produced by Trachtenberg, who also co-wrote the script with Patrick Aison, building upon characters created by Jim and John Thomas. The film stars Dakota Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek, and was produced by John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor.

The movie takes place in the future on a distant planet and tells the story of a young Predator who is rejected by his people. He teams up with a woman named Thia and together they face a dangerous quest to find a powerful enemy.

The movie arrives in theaters on November 7, 2025.
