Baron Zemo, a popular villain among Marvel fans, is returning in a future series as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though he doesn’t have any superpowers, Zemo remains one of the MCU’s most compelling villains, ever since he first appeared in the 2016 film *Captain America: Civil War*.
I’m so excited for the *Marvel Zombies* series on Disney+! It’s a spin-off of *What If…?* Season 1, and from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be intense – the remaining Avengers battling a zombie outbreak, and even facing off against zombified versions of their fellow heroes! But the best part? Baron Zemo is coming back! I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble he’ll stir up in all this chaos. Marvel Studios has confirmed he’ll be in two episodes, and I’m already bracing myself for it!
Daniel Brühl, known for his role as the character in live-action films, will be voiced by Rama Vallury in the animated series *Marvel Zombies*. Marvel has announced that Vallury will appear as the villain in episodes 2 and 3.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited to hear that Zeno Vallury is voicing Baron Zemo again in another animated project! He was fantastic as Zemo in an episode of *X-Men ’97* last year – that season was a big deal because it also gave us the first animated version of Doctor Doom from Marvel Studios, which was awesome.
I’m so excited for *Marvel Zombies*! It’s going to be the first streaming series kicking off Phase 6 of the MCU, and the premise is wild – a whole universe completely taken over by zombies, with the Avengers desperately trying to rescue people. They’re even bringing in characters like Zemo, Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi, and Ms. Marvel! All four episodes will be available on Disney+ starting September 24th, and I’ve already marked my calendar!
Baron Zemo’s MCU Future After Phase 6
Despite being a fan-favorite villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Zemo hasn’t actually been in many movies or shows. While he first appeared in *Captain America: Civil War*, his only other role was in five episodes of the *Falcon and the Winter Soldier* series. In that show, he helped Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes on a mission, and ultimately went back to prison afterward.
Currently, Zemo remains imprisoned at The Raft, finishing a lengthy sentence with other well-known inmates such as President Ross and Samuel Sterns (The Leader). Given his relatively small part in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, fans are eager to find out if he’ll reappear in future films or series.
Many fans assumed Baron Zemo would appear in the 2025 film *Thunderbolts*, but he wasn’t part of the plans when Marvel concluded its Phase 5 lineup. Despite this, actor Daniel Brühl, while promoting *Thunderbolts*, confirmed that Zemo is still alive and he’s willing to reprise the role if the opportunity arises.
I’m really excited for the future of the MCU, especially Phase 7 and beyond! While we’re getting these huge, cosmic heroes like the X-Men, I have a feeling things will eventually circle back to the more personal, street-level stories we loved in the Captain America movies. And honestly, I’m hoping Sam Wilson sticks around for a while – a rematch with Zemo would be incredible, and it feels like that’s where things are headed!
