Production of the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie could face difficulties following an incident involving star Tom Holland. Marvel Studios has heavily invested in Holland as a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s expected to remain important for years to come. However, the actor is now facing a potentially significant challenge as he balances his responsibilities.
Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, apparently hurt his head while filming the new *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* movie. *Spider-Man 4* is currently planned as the next Marvel film to come out in theaters, and it’s already been a surprisingly long wait since the last one – almost a year. This injury could potentially delay the movie’s release.
Tom Holland reportedly hit his head while doing a stunt on the set of his movie in Glasgow, Scotland, according to Deadline. He was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a mild concussion. While he’s expected to take a short break from filming as a precaution, he’s only expected to be out for a few days before returning to work.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony was already facing delays with filming the next *Spider-Man* movie before the recent injury. Thankfully, no one else was hurt. Sony plans to meet on Monday, September 22nd, to discuss how to proceed with production after this setback.
The next Spider-Man movie, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, is scheduled to be released as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making it the fourth Spider-Man film in the MCU.
The upcoming film *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Mando, will follow Peter Parker as he tries to reclaim his sense of self while shielding his family and friends from both familiar enemies and new villains. It’s currently scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.
Will Spider-Man 4 Be Delayed After Tom Holland Injury?
Since filming for *Spider-Man 4* didn’t start until late July 2025, Marvel and Sony had just about a year to complete the movie, from filming to final editing.
Fans are excited the movie is being filmed using real sets and locations, a change from the previous *Spider-Man: No Way Home*. However, a recent injury could create difficulties during production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and Marvel were already facing delays with filming the next movie before Tom Holland’s injury, and this could cause even bigger setbacks than the studios had anticipated.
Holland’s injury doesn’t appear to be severe and shouldn’t sideline him for long, but it unfortunately creates another complication for the studios, adding to their existing workload.
Marvel is currently releasing fewer movies than usual, and Phase 6 of the MCU will only have four theatrical releases. There’s a particularly long wait scheduled – a full year – between the release of *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* (July 25, 2025) and *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* (July 31, 2026). This is the biggest gap between movies since the end of the Infinity Saga and the start of the Multiverse Saga.
With the film scheduled to come out in 10 months, Marvel might have to delay its release into 2026 if production faces further issues.
These developments could also affect the next two Avengers films, which are already scheduled for release in December 2026. Hopefully, Tom Holland and the team can overcome any challenges and complete this eagerly awaited sequel with minimal further delays.
