I was chatting with one of the stars of *The Banshees of Inisherin* at the premiere of *A Big Bold Beautiful Journey*, and the conversation turned to a fun ‘what if’ – could we see the Penguin and Harley Quinn teaming up on screen? It definitely got us all speculating!

During a Variety interview in August 2025, Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie discussed the possibility of their characters, Penguin and Harley Quinn, appearing together in a future project. Robbie jokingly suggested asking James Gunn about it, then described the potential pairing as “hot” and “demented.” Farrell didn’t quite share her enthusiastic description at the time.

Colin Farrell still doesn’t think a romantic pairing between his Batman character and Robbie’s Harley Quinn would work. When Entertainment Tonight asked him about the idea, the 49-year-old actor said he couldn’t see it happening, joking that it was something for fans to explore in their own imaginations.

When asked about Margot Robbie potentially appearing in the Batman universe, Colin Farrell suggested that people misinterpreted what she meant by a ‘crossover.’

The interviewer asked Colin Farrell what it would be like to see his character, the Penguin, spending time with Harley Quinn. Farrell responded it would be a lot of fun, explaining that he particularly enjoyed the scenes in the HBO series *The Penguin* where his character and Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Gigante were friends. He believes working with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn would be a similarly enjoyable experience.
