Just a few months after its release in theaters, *28 Years Later* is coming to Netflix! Fans have already called it one of the scariest movies of the year, and we gave it a perfect score in our review. We’re thrilled that Danny Boyle is back to continue the story he and Alex Garland started, and now everyone with a Netflix subscription will be able to enjoy it.
The new movie, *28 Years Later: The Bone Temple*, is coming out soon (September 20th), and I’m planning to rewatch one of my favorite films of the year and really analyze some key scenes. It’s a good time for you to do the same! Here’s what makes me want to revisit this story…

First Off, 28 Years Later Is One Of My Top-Rated Movies Of The Year
As of today, I’ve seen 82 new movies this year, and *28 Years Later* is definitely among my favorites – I’ve given it a rare five-star rating, along with just three other films. I’ve been a huge fan of this series ever since I first saw the trailer for *28 Days Later* back in high school, before *X-2: X-Men United*, so I was really excited for this new installment.
I absolutely loved the movie! It was even better than I expected, and it’s easily one of the most memorable cinematic experiences I’ve had in years. Everything, from the story and visuals to the thrilling action and the fantastic soundtrack featuring Godspeed You! Black Emperor, really connected with me. I’m already planning a re-watch and eagerly anticipating seeing it again on September 20th.

I’m Ready To Pick Up On Things I Missed The First Time Around
With so much happening in *28 Years Later*, it’s easy to miss details on a first viewing – I know I did! One of the best parts of rewatching a movie is noticing small things you missed before, or really savoring a scene you were too distracted to fully appreciate. Now that I know what happens, I’m excited to focus on the present moment of the film, instead of wondering what’s coming next.
I was deeply moved by *28 Years Later*, particularly by how a certain relationship unfolded. Looking back, I realize I probably didn’t fully grasp some important details at the beginning because I was still processing the fast-paced opening. I’m really excited to rewatch it and catch everything I missed.

I’m Totally Going To Revisit The Causeway Scene Multiple Times
Each film in the *28* series has delivered incredible action sequences. *28 Days Later* featured the unforgettable London scenes, *28 Weeks Later* shocked audiences with its intense opening, and *28 Years Later* truly shines with its thrilling chase along the causeway. Watching Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Spike (Alfie Williams) desperately try to reach safety is a standout moment – both visually and narratively – and it’s stayed with me since I first saw it in June. It’s easily one of the best scenes in the movie.
Seeing the infected Alpha chase the father and son under the night sky was incredibly intense, especially as the creature closed in. I’m eager to relive that moment, and I plan to rewatch the movie multiple times, paying close attention to each character’s perspective. It’s easily one of the most memorable scenes in a film filled with great moments.

I Also Can’t Wait To Go Back And Compare The Opening And Closing Scenes
The opening ten minutes of *28 Years Later* are exceptionally chaotic and brilliantly set the stage for the entire film, even if it takes a while to understand their full significance. I’m particularly eager to rewatch the scenes with Jimmy (played by Rocco Haynes as a youth and Jack O’Connell as an adult) and look for hints about what led to his troubled state.
Beyond the interesting details about where his style comes from, I’m really looking forward to seeing how his character’s past relationships play out now that everything has fallen apart. And honestly, it’ll just be great to watch Jack O’Connell deliver another intense performance.

With 28 Years: The Bone Temple Months Away, I’m Going To Need A Refresher
I’m especially looking forward to rewatching the film because the sequel, *The Bone Temple*, is coming out early in 2026. Since the release is only a few months away, I’ll need to refresh my memory – maybe even watch it again closer to the release date – so I’m ready to learn more about Ralph Fiennes’ intriguing character, Dr. Ian Kelson.
I’m really looking forward to this movie! The trailer for *The Bone Temple* was amazing, and I’m eager to see what happens next. I’m wondering how Spike will fare now that he’s joined Sir Jimmy Crystal’s group, what Dr. Kelson will discover, and what Alpha is planning. We won’t have to wait long to find out!
In just a few days, *28 Years Later* will be available to stream on Netflix, and I’m excited to return to England for another thrilling and dangerous adventure with what are shaping up to be some of the year’s most compelling characters.
