Eric Kripke, showrunner for The Boys, recently disclosed intriguing updates about the eagerly awaited spin-off set in Mexico. In a recent interview, he shed light on the project’s early stages and gave tantalizing hints about its direction. Furthermore, Kripke mentioned the contributions of two esteemed actors who are playing significant roles behind the scenes for this series.
Eric Kripke says The Boys: Mexico spin-off ‘script is good’
At the Gen V Season 2 premiere’s red carpet event, Eric Kripke shared with Collider that we’re seeing some exciting developments behind the scenes for “The Boys: Mexico.” He mentioned, “I’m thrilled to announce that we’re actively working on the pilot for this spin-off. It’s quite intriguing – just like our other projects, let’s see where it goes, but I can assure you, the world of ‘The Boys: Mexico’ is up to par with all our other spin-offs.
He went on to say, “It’s our world, yet with a completely fresh vibe that’s incredibly enjoyable. Gael and Diego are serving as executive producers, which is nothing short of incredible, and they have shown a genuine interest in it. In short, we’ll just have to wait and see, but I believe the script has potential.
In simpler terms, it was revealed in 2023 that Prime Video is planning to broaden the satirical superhero world of The Boys by setting a new series in a different environment. Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna will be among the producers, while Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer will oversee the project as both showrunner and writer.
The Boys: Mexico is another addition to the expanding list of spin-offs from the original Amazon Prime Video series, which debuted in 2019. Previous spin-offs include The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022), a collection of animated stories.
Another show, Gen V, a live-action series set in college and currently airing its second season, is underway. Additionally, a prequel named “Vought Rising” is being produced. In this production, Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprise their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront respectively.
As a movie enthusiast eagerly anticipating the conclusion of “The Boys” saga on Amazon Prime Video, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement as we gear up for the fifth and final season. This series, masterfully crafted by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of action, comedy, and satire.
While details are scarce, whispers from within the creative team suggest that they’ve already penned a pilot script for an intriguing spin-off titled “The Boys: Mexico.” The initial feedback is promising, with the team describing it as “good,” leaving us all curious about what lies ahead in this expansive universe.
However, Eric Kripke remains tight-lipped regarding a release date for this new installment. As fans, we can only hope that the wait won’t be too long and that “The Boys: Mexico” will deliver the same level of quality and entertainment as its predecessor. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated expansion!
