Star Wars Releases First-Ever Poster for Darth Jar Jar

In a recent announcement, Star Wars unveiled an official poster for their upcoming project, introducing Darth Jar Jar, a character never before featured on an official poster. Originally a popular fan theory, speculation suggested that Jar Jar Binks was the powerful Sith Lord manipulating events in the shadows, even outranking Palpatine. Now, this intriguing notion will be given life in an authentic Star Wars production airing on Disney+.

A freshly unveiled promotional material, known as a poster, emerged for “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuilding Galaxies – Relics of Yesterday”, which is due to start its second season on Disney+ on September 19, 2024. This poster showcases the primary characters and introduces Darth Jar Jar, making this the first occasion in Star Wars history that this character has graced a poster.

In the poster, Darth Jar Jar is depicted wearing what seems to be Sith clothing or apparel and wielding a distinctive red lightsaber. Additionally, he’s positioned atop an object that resembles a DSD1 Dwarf Spider Droid, lending a menacing air to the image.

In the second season of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, Darth Jar Jar will play a significant role. This character made an appearance in Season 1 and was given voice by Ahmed Best, who is recognized for his portrayal of Jar Jar Binks in The Mandalorian, as well as voicing the same character in the live-action Star Wars prequels.

It appears that Darth Jar Jar’s character design from Season 1 will remain unchanged. Throughout that season, his character maintained its comedic and goofy nature, which was characteristic of Darth Jar Jar during the prequels, even after he became Darth Jar Jar.

In the poster for “Pieces of the Past”, Darth Jar Jar wields a lightsaber that glows from just one side. During Season 1 of “Rebuild the Galaxy”, however, he was seen with a double-bladed lightsaber. It remains uncertain whether this design will reappear in “Pieces of the Past”, as no promotional material thus far has shown such a lightsaber.

The upcoming game, titled LEGO Star Wars: Pieces of the Past, will feature characters such as Ahsoka Tano, voiced by Ashley Eckstein from The Clone Wars, C-3PO (portrayed by Anthony Daniels in real life), Maul (voiced by Sam Witwer), Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan), Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), and the Bad Batch (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker).

Will Darth Jar Jar Ever Appear in Other Star Wars Projects?

Ever since the concept of Darth Jar Jar took root among fans and floated around the online Star Wars community for years, it remained just that – a theory. That was until its debut in LEGO Star Wars, where it found some semblance of reality beyond the realm of speculation. Yet, even as it stays off-canon within the official Star Wars narrative, this intriguing fan theory has now made its way onto our screens. As a diehard cinephile, I can’t help but ponder what this could mean for the future of the beloved saga.

As a die-hard film buff, I must say, the LEGO Star Wars universe offers an exciting twist to the galaxy far, far away! Unlike other projects, LEGO allows for a more playful exploration of characters, storylines, and locations that aren’t bound by strict canon rules. Fans understand this and appreciate them as humorous interpretations rather than official lore. Yet, who knows? In the future, even Darth Jar Jar might pop up in a non-LEGO production, keeping us all on our toes!

Ever since “What If…?” made its debut, I’ve found myself intrigued by the idea of witnessing an animated show that delves into similar concepts, all within the vast universe of Star Wars.

As a devoted cinema enthusiast and unshakable Star Wars fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting for any hint about a “What If…?” series, but unfortunately, there’s been no word yet. However, should this sci-fi dream become a reality, it would be almost certain that the infamous Darth Jar Jar would make an appearance. Outside of a LEGO project, it seems unlikely we’ll ever witness the dark side reign of Darth Jar Jar in any other Star Wars venture.
