As a fervent fan, I’m thrilled to share that the talented Emily Hampshire is gearing up to grace our screens in the highly anticipated Disney+ series, Vision Quest – a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! In a recent interview, she eloquently discussed her exciting journey into the MCU and hinted at some intriguing interactions with James Spader’s formidable character, Ultron.
What did Emily Hampshire say about her role in Vision Quest?
Discussing her upcoming role as E.D.I.T.H., a character created by Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Hampshire confessed that when she first landed the part, she was unfamiliar with the MCU. However, after doing some research, she now realizes the magnitude of the franchise and its impact on the movie industry.
Hampshire recalled his initial experience with this job he couldn’t discuss for a year, which proved challenging. His lawyer had informed him, ‘You’re part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now.’ Puzzled, he had to find out what MCU stood for. Now fully engrossed, he has watched all the movies and gained extensive knowledge about the universe. However, prior to joining, he was unaware of its secrecy. For instance, we had to submit our scripts daily. Thus, it is incredibly clandestine. There are many things I know but can’t share.
In a subsequent conversation, Hampshire commended the collaborative experience she had with both Paul Bettany and James Spader, particularly highlighting Spader’s return as Ultron for the series. Although Hampshire didn’t explicitly state they shared scenes together, she often referred to working alongside Spader during their time together.
Hampshire expressed how incredible it was to work alongside Paul Bettany and James Spader, two exceptional individuals. He went on to say that even though he’s worked with many talented people, the experience left him in a state of wonder. About Paul Bettany, Hampshire remarked that they seemed as if they were destined to be friends, like they had known each other since before birth, a bond that was reminiscent of laughter shared while kicking inside their mothers’ wombs.
“And James Spader is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with.”
In addition to Hampshire, Vision Quest features Paul Bettany, James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Orla Brady, and Faran Tahir as its confirmed cast members so far. This series is slated for release in the upcoming year, being a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s sixth phase.
The initial announcements about Vision Quest left it uncertain whether the show would stick to the original comic book narrative from the Vision Quest series, or simply carry on with the story arc of Vision that’s been developing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The last time viewers encountered Vision was in the final episodes of WandaVision on Disney+, where Vision was taken apart and put back together in a new, white form. However, this new form vanished just before the series finale ended.
