In a recent chat with Esquire, Holland spoke about his ambitions for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He expressed a desire to truly represent Peter Parker’s character by understanding what fans anticipate from his upcoming film.

After being granted a role in the project’s development, Holland has covertly been exploring fan discussions online, seeking insights about what could be best for Spider-Man, as he values the opinions of those deeply familiar with the character.

Speaking about Peter Parker’s character, I aim to give it the respect it deserves by creating something that is truly valuable for the fans’ viewing experience. I am deeply appreciative of their dedication and investment in our series, not just financially, but also the hours they spend going to the cinema multiple times, which I understand is a significant commitment.

In the gap between Spider-Man: No Way Home and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, I secretly delved into online conversations, gathering insights on what fans were hoping for. I then presented my ideas to Marvel, stating confidently, “This is what I believe we should create.” It seems that’s exactly the direction we’re heading in now. Developing this movie has been an exhilarating journey, one I’ve never embarked upon before, and it’s undeniably nerve-wracking. Yet, with the shooting underway, I truly feel that we are capturing something extraordinary. This is gold we are filming!

Furthermore, when asked about his feelings on contributing to the film’s development, Holland expressed his appreciation for being allowed to choose actions beneficial to the character’s portrayal.

Holland expressed his deep connection to the character Peter Parker, saying, “I have such a strong sense of who Peter Parker is, and I’m grateful for the passionate fan base that has been so vocal about their love for the franchise. We’ve been able to focus on what fans love and build upon it. As a result, defending the character and being involved in decisions that benefit him feels like protecting a dear friend. It’s an unusual yet comfortable feeling returning to the character; it’s like catching up with an old buddy again.

In the upcoming Spider-Man sequel titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” director Destin Daniel Cretton brings us a screenplay penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland, who’s no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, is set to return. Additionally, Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to rejoin the cast. Alongside them, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion are also joining the movie. The production team includes Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Avi Arad, and Louis D’Esposito.

Production is currently underway at Pinewood Studios in England.
