James Gunn on if Peacemaker Is Still Annoyed With Batman & Other Heroes

Previously, it was evident that John Cena’s character Chris Smith from “Peacemaker Season 1” wasn’t particularly fond of other superheroes. But the situation, especially for Peacemaker and the DC Universe, has significantly shifted since then. As James Gunn recently mentioned, in “Season 2,” Cena’s Peacemaker continues to harbor resentment towards Batman, Superman, and other DC heroes due to a particular reason.

In the most recent installment of the Peacemaker: The Official Podcast featuring James Gunn, it was pointed out that the character portrayed by John Cena harbors resentment towards both Batman and other popular superheroes in his own universe, owing to their widespread fame.

As a devotee, I’ve always dreamt of becoming a superhero, but it seems they don’t view me in that light. In fact, they consider me a bit of a washout. Now, granted, I’ve got bigger fish to fry right now, but you can bet your boots I’m not exactly thrilled about the fame hogs grabbing all the limelight.

In the first season of Peacemaker, John Cena’s titular character got into a heated clash with the Justice League. Despite the Justice League being replaced by the Justice Gang in Season 2, Peacemaker’s approach towards Superman and his powerful allies continues to be unyielding.

James Gunn offered another instance showcasing Peacemaker’s contempt for other DC Universe superheroes, by saying, “In the Superman film, Peacemaker expresses his disdain during an interview conducted by Cleavis Thornwaite. Cleavis questions him about Superman, and Peacemaker comments that Superman is jealous of him because he’s perceived as edgier and more muscular.

So far, three of the eight episodes for Season 2 of Peacemaker have been released. With five additional episodes scheduled to be revealed, there’s a strong possibility that characters from the Superman movie will make an appearance in the upcoming episodes. Fans can look forward to the season exploring further aspects of Peacemaker’s relationships with other heroes in his universe.
