Dexter: Resurrection’s Latest Episode Ended On A Massive Cliffhanger That Worries Me, But I’m Also Happy About One Big Moment The Serial Killer Had That Caused It

❗️Note: The discussion below may reveal spoilers from the Dexter: Resurrection episode titled “Touched By An Ángel.” If you haven’t seen it yet, consider streaming it with a Paramount+ subscription at your own peril! Enjoy!

In the second-to-last episode of “Dexter: New Blood,” we finally discovered who would emerge victorious in Dexter’s confrontation with his longtime friend Angel Batista. The outcome wasn’t what I anticipated, but I must admit that I admired Dexter for something I had been uncertain about earlier this season.

As a passionate film buff, I found myself captivated by Leon Prater’s intriguing assertion that unveiling the truth could lead to an unexpected twist. After my comrade Charley and I discovered Dexter wasn’t Ronald Schmidt, he presented a seemingly ideal proposal tailored for our resident serial killer. However, this offer came with a catch – a price tag that made me ponder.

I must admit, I was thrilled to witness how Dexter handled this proposition amidst a whirlwind of highs and lows throughout the season. His response was nothing short of mesmerizing, further fuelling my fascination for the show.

Leon Prater Gave Dexter The Opportunity He Always Wanted, But The Price Was Too Steep

Batista visited Leon Prater to disclose the truth about Dexter, but this decision ultimately proved tragic. The wealthy man seized Batista, confining the ex-Miami Metro detective in his basement. When “Red” arrived, he shared the news that the game was over. He had uncovered Batista’s true identity and realized that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher.

It transpired that Leon took great delight in the revelation, desiring to support Dexter financially. He proposed offering his wealth and Charley’s comprehensive research on national serial killers, enabling Dexter to carry on his work as ‘The Butcher’ and eliminate some of the most heinous individuals globally. The condition for this assistance was that Dexter would need to assassinate Angel Batista to establish their agreement.

Prater presented an exceptional opportunity, where, from a practical standpoint, Dexter could potentially save many lives by locating serial killers across the U.S., given unlimited resources. However, the catch was that he would have to betray his old friend, who had become certain that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher. Despite being tempted, Dexter chose not to kill him and instead released Batista, as he felt it would be against his moral principles to do so.

Unfortunately, after gaining the opportunity, Angel Batista was eager to take Dexter’s life. As soon as he was freed, he lunged at him and started choking the life out of the former blood spatter analyst. The only thing that stopped him was being shot multiple times by Leon Prater, which resulted in his death. In his last moments, Dexter attempted to apologize, but Batista seemed unfazed. While Dexter wasn’t the direct cause of the deaths of Doakes, Laguerta, and all other innocents who had perished along the way, his actions contributed to their demise. With that, we bid farewell to Angel Batista.

Will Dexter Be Forced Into An Arrangement With Prater Anyway?

Prater shot a stray bullet at Dexter following the murder of Angel Batista, but I believe their encounter isn’t over yet. At present, Prater has the upper hand since he has captured the serial killer and is keeping him in his vault. Moreover, Prater is aware that Harrison poses a vulnerability for Dexter; although access may not be immediate, if needed, he can certainly acquire him. Unfortunately, Prater seems to have been careless about avoiding being trailed.

Original Sin,” actors C.S. Lee (who plays Masuka) and David Zayas (who plays Batista) have expressed their reactions.

This version maintains the original meaning while using more natural language and making it easier to read by rephrasing some of the words and structures. For example, “Original Sin’s” has been replaced with “Dexter: Original Sin,” and “get more signatures” has been changed to “growing number of signatures.” The overall structure of the sentence has also been simplified to make it easier for readers to understand.

Moving ahead, I foresee two possible scenarios unfolding. One possibility is that Prater might use his influence to make Dexter collaborate, with Charley acting as a sort of bodyguard to prevent any harm coming to him. However, it’s worth considering the risk associated with letting Dexter go scot-free, given his long history of eluding Prater and uncovering his true identity. The question remains: Can we trust him enough to let him roam free?

In my opinion, Leon Prater is likely to survive until the next season, as I discussed earlier. I suspect that Dexter may find himself obliged to collaborate with Prater, or perhaps even Harrison might take center stage. It’s possible that Prater could make Dexter instruct his son Harry in Harry’s code and compel him to embark on a life of serial killing, as part of some perverse game. While I’m not certain about Harrison’s capabilities, he might be more inclined to eliminate someone like Al, who managed to escape a few episodes back.

By paraphrasing the text, I aimed to maintain the original meaning while using a more natural and easy-to-read language style.

Excitingly, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out what happens next, as the final episode of Dexter: Resurrection is airing on Paramount+ next Friday. For those who don’t subscribe, they can catch it on Showtime this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET. That’s when everything will be revealed in the episode.
