1993 saw the arrival of the heartwarming film, Cool Runnings, which drew its essence from the true tale of the Jamaican bobsled team’s first appearance at the 1988 Winter Olympics.

Under Jon Turteltaub’s direction, the movie featured Leon, Doug E. Doug, Rawle D. Lewis, Malik Yoba, and the late John Candy in his final role. The film told the story of an eclectic team of Jamaican athletes, with sprinter Derice Bannock (Leon) at the helm.
