In Just 1 Day, Hulu’s New 8-Episode Crime Drama Is the Most-Watched Show in the World

Hulu’s new crime series is quickly becoming a global sensation. The show only recently launched on the platform, but it’s already a hit with viewers around the world.

The new series, Furious, takes inspiration from the 1987 film Black Widow, which was directed by Bob Rafelson. It launched on Hulu on July 27th and quickly became popular. According to FlixPatrol, Furious was a big success worldwide, performing well on both Hulu and Disney+.

The new eight-part crime series started as the second most popular show on Hulu, right after Love Island UK. It’s currently a Hulu exclusive in the U.S., but launched simultaneously on Disney+ internationally. The series quickly rose to become the No. 1 show in 31 countries worldwide.

Furious Is a Major Hit

Alice is on the hunt for a woman suspected of murdering several husbands to claim their fortunes. But while investigating these crimes, Alice is forced to face her own painful past. As both women pursue justice, their stories become connected, making it increasingly difficult to tell who’s truly in the right.

The new series Furious is created by Elizabeth Meriwether (known for New Girl and Dying for Sex). It features Emmy Rossum from Shameless, Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing) playing Catherine, Scoot McNairy (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as Danny, Quincy Tyler Bernstine (Power Book II: Ghost) as Nora, and Jake Lacy (The White Lotus) as Marshall.

The movie Furious is earning rave reviews from both critics and viewers. It’s currently ‘Certified Fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics are calling it a gripping and exciting crime drama, praising Emmy Rossum’s performance and saying it delivers a satisfying experience for everyone involved.

Furious Avoids Crime Drama Tropes

Scoot McNairy explained that the story is, at its heart, made up. While it touches on real-world issues, the narrative Liz created is entirely fictional. He believes the show is compelling because it presents complex ideas and ambiguous situations without offering easy answers or confirming whether your interpretations are correct. It leaves you to draw your own conclusions.

I have to say, I was really impressed with how Liz Meriwether handled this project. It walks a very fine line between being shocking and genuinely entertaining, and she navigated it beautifully. She’s just fantastic at tackling tough topics with respect – for the story itself, the people involved, and most importantly, for us, the viewers.

Furious releases new episodes every Monday on Hulu.
