Apple TV’s Highly-Anticipated Revival Series Officially Returns in 1 Week

The show comes back on August 5th. Before it starts airing, Apple TV has shared a new preview of the critically acclaimed series.

The new trailer dropped just a week before the show returns, following its official Season 4 premiere in Los Angeles at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. This season will have ten episodes, released one per week until October 7th.

What Happens in Ted Lasso Season 4?

Ted Lasso is back! Jason Sudeikis returns to the role three years after season three, but this time he’s coaching a women’s soccer team. The latest trailer features familiar faces like Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift, alongside new additions to the cast: Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

As a huge fan, I was so happy to see the new trailer! It instantly brought back all the warm, fuzzy feelings I get from the show. Hearing Ted Lasso and Roy Kent together again – Roy’s signature ‘Oy!’ after three years apart was amazing – just made my day. The trailer is packed with happy moments, lots of laughter, and really inspiring soccer scenes as Ted starts working with a brand new team. It’s exactly what I needed!

Jason Sudeikis Almost Didn’t Return for Season 4

There was a lot of uncertainty about whether Ted Lasso would continue, especially among the actors. While creator Jason Sudeikis initially planned for Season 3 to be the end – feeling the story had reached a natural conclusion with Ted leaving Richmond to be with his son and all storylines resolved – the rest of the cast were keen to come back for more.

Eventually, Jason Sudeikis grew to love playing Ted Lasso again. He explained to The Hollywood Reporter that the role was incredibly enjoyable because Ted is a genuinely optimistic character who always looks for the good in others, even when faced with negativity and hardship.

The actor explained that it wasn’t about the money – he was offered over a million dollars per episode. He simply felt the story had run its course and didn’t need to continue. He clarified this wasn’t a ploy during negotiations.

The actor is now leading the cast in Season 4, and Bill Lawrence, one of the show’s creators, has confirmed that Jason Sudeikis is committed to returning for the show’s continuation.

Apple TV has quickly become known for popular streaming shows, including hits like Severance, Silo, The Studio, and the recent addition, Widow’s Bay. Ted Lasso is a prime example of their success. Its first season earned an impressive 20 Primetime Emmy nominations – a record-breaker at the time. Overall, Ted Lasso has received 61 Emmy nominations and won 13 awards. It even took home the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for its first two seasons! Jason Sudeikis also won Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy) consecutively in both 2021 and 2022.

Ted Lasso quickly became a hit on Apple TV+, breaking records with its first episode and becoming the platform’s most-watched show after just one season. Its popularity continued to grow through Season 3, making it the most-viewed original series of 2023. Even now, as Season 4 approaches, Ted Lasso remains a top performer, currently ranking at No. 4 among the most-watched shows on Apple TV+ in the United States according to FlixPatrol.

You can watch Ted Lasso on Apple TV+. The fifth season starts August 5th, and new episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays until October 7th.
