YouTube has announced a significant new partnership, marking a major advancement for the platform in the competitive streaming landscape.
Most major movie and TV studios now have their own streaming services, but they’ve realized it’s beneficial to combine resources and reach more viewers. YouTube is joining this trend, announcing a partnership with Peacock to offer a combined streaming package.
YouTube Is Teaming Up With Peacock
NBCUniversal and YouTube have reached a new, multiyear partnership that brings more content to viewers. As part of this deal, people with YouTube Premium subscriptions in the US will now get free access to the ad-supported version of Peacock.
Besides Peacock, YouTube Premium costs $15.99 per month and gives you ad-free YouTube watching, lets you continue playing videos or music even when your phone screen is off, includes a YouTube Music subscription, and allows you to download content for offline viewing.
YouTube Premium is designed to let you enjoy your favorite content without interruptions. Now, it’s even better! We’re combining that great experience with everything Peacock has to offer – live sports, popular Universal films, and award-winning TV shows.
In addition to shows like Saturday Night Live, Law & Order: SVU, and Love Island USA on Peacock, NBCUniversal will be streaming select live sports events on the NBC Sports YouTube channel.
YouTube revealed it’s expanding its offerings with international bundles and the option for subscribers to add a Peacock membership, currently available only in the US. This move is separate from the existing partnership between NBCUniversal and Paramount in Europe, which operates under the SkyShowtime brand and won’t be impacted by the YouTube bundles.
