Firefly continues to chart its comeback.
As a huge sci-fi fan, I always hear about Firefly. It’s this space Western created by Joss Whedon – the guy behind The Avengers and Buffy – that first aired in 2002. Sadly, it was cancelled after just one season, only 14 episodes, but it really stuck with people. It developed this amazing cult following, and a few years later, Whedon brought it back with a movie called Serenity, which had all the original actors. Now, it looks like they’re trying to recapture that magic again with a new project!
Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk shared an update on the status of the animated continuation of Firefly at MCM Comic-Con.
As a huge Firefly fan, I was excited to hear Nathan Fillion (Mal) and Alan Tudyk (Wash) recently talked about the potential revival! They said it’s still being worked on, but unfortunately hasn’t landed anywhere – no TV channel or streaming service has picked it up yet. They promised they’ll let us all know as soon as there’s real progress. Nathan admitted it’s a tough process, but they’re both still dedicated to making it happen!
Nathan Fillion explained that they initially released a video about the development of the show, rather than an announcement that it was actually happening. He pointed out that getting a series made for TV or streaming is surprisingly slow and difficult – if it were easy, everyone would be doing it!
I completely agree. As I mentioned before, the company is facing some challenges and undergoing a period of change. It’s a bit like the old days of developing photos – you’d drop them off at a small shop, often run by someone a little eccentric, and wait for them to be processed. Right now, we’re in that ‘processing’ stage – things are being sorted out behind the scenes. We’re not quite ready to share the results yet, but you’ll definitely hear from us when we are.
