Apollo Has Fallen Looks Like A Soft Reboot Of The Action Franchise
What makes the new season of Apollo Has Fallen stand out is how different it feels. While the same main characters return, the overall style and scale of the show have changed dramatically. The first season was action-packed but leaned more towards a suspenseful, conspiracy-driven story, similar to Jack Ryan. This new season picks up with Vincent and Zara after the events of season one, and they now seem to be working more like hired guns.
Filming in sunny places like Malta gives this movie a different vibe than Paris Has Fallen. This change reflects the overall direction of the film series: Olympus Has Fallen focused on a White House takeover, while London Has Fallen expanded the action to include the entire city.
While Apollo Has Fallen tried a new approach, it remains to be seen if it will be as enjoyable as the first series. A notable absence is Sean Harris, who played the captivating villain Jacob Pearce. The Status Of Gerard Butler’s Next Has Fallen Movie Is Still Unknown
After Angel Has Fallen did so well, everyone expected another movie. Honestly, I thought Gerard Butler’s character, Banning, might be done with all the action though – you could tell years of getting beat up were starting to take a toll! Still, they announced a fourth film called Night Has Fallen back in 2020. But then things got complicated; apparently there was a legal battle between Butler and the studio over money from the original movie, so production stalled.
So, things got sorted out with the legal stuff, but from what I can tell, they’ve stopped working on Night Has Fallen. Gerard Butler is doing well with other projects right now, which makes me think we might not get another film in that series. Honestly, it’d be a real shame – I was hoping to see Mike Banning and the whole story arc get a satisfying conclusion. It feels like it deserves one!
Really, the next logical step for another Has Fallen movie would be to have Mike Banning become President himself – a leader who also takes action when needed. A cameo appearance by President Banning in Apollo Has Fallen could nicely set that up. Although Gerard Butler is still producing related films, there are currently no plans for him to reprise his role as Banning anytime soon.
