AMC’s continues. After the resounding success of , AMC confirmed more is coming.
The show has become very popular recently. Just days after The Vampire Lestat finished airing, AMC announced it would be back on July 24th at San Diego Comic-Con. Following its evolution from Interview With the Vampire to The Vampire Lestat, the series will continue this pattern – Season 4 is officially titled Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned.
The Vampire Lestat Becomes Queen of the Damned
At San Diego Comic-Con, fans got a sneak peek at Season 4 of Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. The show’s executive producers, Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch, were joined on stage by cast members Jacob Anderson (who plays Louis), Assad Zaman (Armand), Eric Bogosian (Daniel Molloy), and Sheila Atim (Akasha).
Readers familiar with Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles will recall that the third book explores Akasha’s story following her awakening by Lestat. The series is known for its complex world-building, and the newest addition promises to further expand on vampire history and lore.
The preview for “She Is the Answer” opens with Akasha (Sheila Atim) speaking directly to the audience. She says, “You called out to me without even knowing who I am—you, covered in dirt and shame. But I heard you.”
Akasha urgently advises: “Don’t let anyone limit your potential or force you to conform to their expectations.” She calls on women to rise up, escape the oppression they’ve faced, join the men, and finally act on their deepest desires, declaring, “Destroy them all.”
“I am the answer,” Akasha eerily yells.
The Vampire Lestat Was a Major Hit
As a huge cinema fan, I was thrilled to see the amazing reception for The Vampire Lestat this year! It’s been a real standout, consistently ranking as one of the best shows on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics clearly love it – it’s got a 99% approval rating – and audiences are on board too, giving it a 79% score. Even the recent refresh of The Vampire Lestat has been a hit, earning a ‘Certified Fresh’ badge with a 98% rating from critics and an 85% audience score. It’s fantastic to see such a strong response!
Dan McDermott, who leads content for AMC Global Media and also heads AMC Studios, praised the first season of The Vampire Lestat. He said Mark, Rolin, Hannah, and the entire cast created a captivating and memorable experience with their fast-paced storytelling that really resonated with dedicated fans.
He said they’re excited to continue adapting Queen of the Damned, a classic story from Anne Rice’s universe, and to see their characters face off against Akasha with the fate of both their world and ours at stake.
The cast includes Sam Reid as Lestat, Jacob Anderson, Nailah Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Thuso Mbedu as Atim, Delainey Hayles as Claudia, and Jennifer Ehle as Gabriella. The series is executive produced by Johnson, the award-winning producer, alongside creator, writer, and showrunner Jones, Moscovitch, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice.
Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned will premiere on AMC and AMC+.
