Fox’s House Replacement Series Officially Comes to Netflix Next Month

I recently checked out [Series Title], the comedy drama that Fox aired earlier this year, and it’s a really charming show. It originally ran from January to March, and now, thankfully, all those episodes are heading to Netflix! It’s a smart move, giving it a chance to build a bigger audience before Season 2 drops this fall. Definitely worth checking out if you missed it the first time around.

The comedy series Best Medicine will start streaming on Netflix on August 2, 2026. The first season has 13 episodes. Before Netflix, the show aired on Fox, where episodes became available shortly after they first aired. Due to its popularity on Fox, Best Medicine was renewed for a second season, which premiered on September 22nd. By finding a new audience on Netflix beforehand, the show hopes to achieve even greater viewership for its second season as fans eagerly await the new episodes.

Josh Charles’ Dr. Best Is the New Dr. House

The show Best Medicine shares similarities with other medical dramas, centering around a gifted but curmudgeonly doctor who specializes in diagnosing rare and puzzling illnesses. Josh Charles plays Dr. Martin Best, a highly skilled physician who leaves a top Boston hospital to open a practice in the small Maine town where he spent his childhood summers. He uses his expertise to solve the town’s medical mysteries, all while privately battling a severe fear of blood that makes even simple procedures difficult.

Starring Charlie Sheen in the main role, Best Medicine also features Abigail Spencer (known from Grey’s Anatomy), Josh Segarra (Arrow), Cree (Game Shakers), and a guest star from Young Sheldon. Liz Tuccillo created the series, which is based on the British show Doc Martin by Dominic Minghella. Liz Tuccillo also serves as an executive producer alongside Ben Silverman, Rodney Ferrell, Howard T. Owens, Mark Crowdy, and Philippa Braithwaite from Propagate.

Best Medicine Was a Breakout Hit for Fox

Fox renewed “Best Medicine” for a second season because it was a hit this year, successfully combining funny moments with genuine emotion. According to Michael Thorn, President of Network Television at Fox, the show’s creator, Liz Tuccillo, has a unique and talented style, and Josh Charles is part of a fantastic cast that viewers love. Both Fox and Propagate are looking forward to continuing the show’s success in Season 2.

The series features appearances by well-known guest stars. In its first season, Martin Clunes, famous for Doc Martin, appeared in an episode actually titled “Doc Martin” as a nod to the show that influenced this one. Other guest stars included Didi Conn, Clea Lewis, John DiMaggio, Carter Shimp, Parker Young, and Annie Golden. Martin Clunes is scheduled to return as a guest star in Season 2.

Best Medicine starts streaming on Netflix on Aug. 2, 2026.
