LEGO Officially Unveils The X-Files Set Ahead of Reboot

Good news for fans of The X-Files! Lego has released a new set with 1,478 pieces based on the show. It includes miniature figures of Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, and other characters like Walter Skinner and even an alien. The set also features fun details such as an “I Want to Believe” poster, an X-Files dossier, a tile reading “The Truth is Out There,” and pencils hidden in Mulder’s office.

The new Lego set will be available starting August 4th. However, Lego Insiders members can buy it three days early, on August 1st. Plus, from August 1st to August 10th, every purchase will include a free bonus gift: a miniature version of The X-Files‘ Scully’s Lab, complete with a Dana Scully minifigure, allowing fans to build a detailed recreation of the FBI Academy lab.

The X-Files Lego set was designed by Brent Waller, a 3D artist and Lego fan from Australia. He entered his idea into Lego’s ‘90s Nostalgia Challenge in 2025 and won first place. The Lego Ideas program lets fans suggest new Lego sets, and the most popular ideas get reviewed for official production.

Waller said they were immediately captivated by The X-Files when it first aired in the 1990s. They initially recreated Mulder’s office in 2014 while revisiting the series, and the project expanded from there as a personal hobby. The goal was to evoke the show’s unique mood through careful attention to detail, storytelling, and a sense of nostalgia.

X-Files Star Gillian Anderson Partnered with Lego for the Reveal

Gillian Anderson, known for The X-Files, stars in a new video promoting a Lego set. The minute-long clip shows her receiving a mysterious black box at her hotel and meticulously building the Lego creation inside. She approaches it like one of her famous investigations, and the video culminates with the finished set being lifted into space. Anderson ends by saying, “No one is going to believe this.”

Anderson described seeing a miniature version of herself as ‘surreal and oddly delightful,’ finding it ‘charming’ to be so small. She called the entire set a ‘brilliant celebration’ of The X-Files and expressed her excitement for fans to enjoy it, adding that she’s eager to display a tiny Scully on her shelf.

The X-Files Lego Set Comes Out Ahead of the New Series

This Lego set is releasing at a perfect time, with fans eagerly anticipating the reboot of The X-Files directed by Ryan Coogler (known for Black Panther and Sinners). Although the series isn’t officially confirmed yet, Hulu has commissioned a pilot episode.

The new season features storylines similar to The Odyssey and Station Eleven, with Danielle Deadwyler taking on a role alongside another actor who together fill the roles previously held by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson’s characters. While those original actors haven’t been confirmed to return, creator Chris Patel recently shared that they are currently awaiting confirmation from Hulu about whether or not the show will continue.

As a longtime fan, I’m thrilled to see the original X-Files series readily available for streaming on both Hulu and Pluto TV! And for those who like to build, Lego is releasing a fantastic set on August 4th. Be prepared to shell out $199.99 for it, but trust me, it looks worth every penny.
