Summer movie season is now in full swing! After The Odyssey proved to be a hit and with Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming soon, the year’s biggest film – Avengers: Doomsday directed by the Russo Brothers – is finally joining the conversation.
Everyone was excited for the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con this week, but it dropped a few days early! And it definitely lives up to the hype – it’s incredibly epic.
Avengers: Doomsday Is Avengers: Endgame Level Epic
As a huge movie fan, I still remember the insane buzz around Avengers: Endgame. Seriously, the anticipation was unreal! It felt like the whole decade of superhero movies – especially everything Marvel had been building with the Cinematic Universe – led to that one epic climax. And let’s not forget Avengers: Infinity War the year before, which really set the stage for the grand finale of the Infinity Saga.
After the conclusion of the Avengers: Endgame saga, Marvel continued its cinematic universe with two more phases, beginning Phase Six with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in 2025. While some recent movies were enjoyable, Spider-Man consistently stood out as a strong series. However, the trailer for Avengers: Doomsday suggests the upcoming film has plenty to offer and is something to be excited about.
The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, has been hinting at its plot for some time with several trailers. These included glimpses of Steve Rogers returning even after retiring as Captain America and handing his shield to Sam Wilson, and a preview of Wakandan citizens teaming up with The Fantastic Four.
This massive superhero film unites nearly all the most popular heroes to battle a common enemy. Expect to see the Avengers, the heroes of Wakanda, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men all fighting together.
Avengers: Doomsday Won’t Require Any Homework
This movie is set after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and is part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is scheduled to conclude next year with Avengers: Secret Wars. While connected to the larger MCU, you won’t need to have seen every previous film to understand it. The movie also revealed that…
I’m really excited about Avengers: Doomsday! The directors, Anthony and Joe Russo – the same amazing team behind Avengers: Endgame from 2019 – have hinted that this new film will be full of surprises. Joe Russo mentioned they want to keep things unpredictable, constantly evolving and shifting, so I’m expecting a really dynamic and fresh take on the story. It sounds like it won’t be what anyone expects, which is exactly what I hope for!
He explained that they’re essentially starting fresh with a clean slate. He mentioned he and Robert Downey Jr. had been discussing this earlier, wanting to ensure everything feels new and doesn’t rely on previous storylines or ideas.
I just got the rundown on the latest film’s length, and it’s a hefty one – clocking in at two hours and 45 minutes. That’s seriously close to a record! While it doesn’t quite reach the epic length of Endgame (which went on for a full 181 minutes), it is longer than Infinity War, which came in at 149 minutes. It’s definitely a commitment!
Avengers: Doomsday makes its way to theaters on Dec. 18.
