Fresh visuals emerging from the filming of HBO’s reimagining of Harry Potter unveil glimpses of Nick Frost as Hagrid and Dominic McLaughlin as young Harry Potter.
What do the new Harry Potter set photos show?
The Harry Potter team has been filming on Borough High Street recently, with McLaughlin and Frost being seen shooting scenes. The costumes hint towards a 90s setting, aligning with J.K. Rowling’s books. During filming, photos of the set have surfaced showing Anthony Wally, Hagrid’s stunt double, standing next to McLaughlin. This is because in the story, Hagrid is significantly larger than an average human.
In the scene, Wally is depicted donning a Hagrid-like cap, but during editing, Robbie Coltrane’s face (as portrayed by Frost) will be superimposed through visual effects – a method similar to what was employed for Hagrid in the Harry Potter films.

McLaughlin has shared his thoughts on stepping into Daniel Radcliffe’s shoes as Harry Potter, describing the experience as somewhat unreal. He explained that he used to be a big fan of Harry Potter when he was younger and considered it an ideal role. Consequently, he is delighted to have the opportunity to play it now.
In the upcoming series, the actor takes the leading role, while Arabelle Stanton and Alastair Stout portray Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, their closest friends from Harry Potter. The main cast is also composed of John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Additionally, Tristan Harland, Gabriel Harland, Ruari Spooner, and Gracie Cochrane are expected to appear in recurring roles, having been cast as Ron’s siblings Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny, respectively.
