The franchise first appeared in 1984 and has evolved in many ways over the years, but most versions still pay tribute to the original. The latest pinball machine, created in partnership with Stern, perfectly captures the spirit of the very first generation that fans remember so fondly.
The latest Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye pinball machines are available in three different versions, all capturing the iconic battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. Gameplay and the pinball table itself feature characters like Optimus Prime, Soundwave, Megatron, and Grimlock.
The game truly captures the feel of ’80s action movies with its sound effects, voice clips, and music, adding a real punch and energy to the classic pinball experience.
The Autobots Roll for It in Stern’s Newest G1 Transformers Pinball Machines
Stern’s Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye pinball machines expertly blend classic pinball fun with modern technology. As players launch balls around the playfield, scenes from the original 1984 Transformers cartoon are displayed on the screen.
The game features missions inspired by the animated series. As you play, you can collect Energon cubes and Tech Spec cards, which are based on the original Generation 1 toys.
Players will battle Decepticons like the villainous Megatron and can even join forces with the powerful Dinobots, including Grimlock, all while trying to prevent their game from getting stuck in Soundwave’s cassette player. This year is also a special one for fans – it’s the 40th anniversary! To mark the occasion, a celebratory mode includes the iconic hard rock song “The Touch” by Stan Bush, alongside music from Knights of Unicron.
Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Soundwave all feature brand new voice recordings performed by their original voice actors, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker.
Stern Pinball’s Insider Connected platform enhances the game with a new system called Cyber Coin. Players can earn these coins by completing special challenges and playing modes like “Prime Training,” or by competing directly against each other.
Customers can choose from three options when buying a pinball machine: the Pro model for $7,000, the Premium model for $9,700, or the Limited Edition—of which only 750 will be made—for $13,000.
The Premium and Limited Edition versions of the game include Megatron and Soundwave as moving figures on the board, and all versions show the figures partially transforming. While the Pro version plays a bit faster, you can’t really go wrong with any edition. The biggest challenge is mastering the game itself – all you’ll need is a bit of luck and plenty of energon to get started!
With celebrations already planned for the brand in 2026, these new Stern Pinball machines are a fantastic addition to this beloved franchise. Stern Pinball has a history of working with popular properties, including the Transformers movies, and continues to deliver high-quality games.
