Timothy Olyphant stars in a new Netflix series that’s leaving a great impression on audiences.
Timothy Olyphant is widely recognized for his work in Westerns like Justified and Deadwood, but he’s taken on a wide variety of TV roles across different streaming platforms. He’s explored sci-fi horror with shows like Alien: Earth and Terminator Zero, and has also appeared in horror comedies (Santa Clarita Diet), sitcoms (The Office), crime dramas (Fargo), and even space Westerns (The Mandalorian). More recently, Olyphant has frequently lent his voice to adult animated comedies, and his latest Netflix series has been a hit with both critics and viewers.
Timothy Olyphant lends his voice to Mating Season, a new animated comedy series on Netflix created by the team behind Big Mouth. Since its release on May 22nd, the show has received an audience score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on fewer than 50 reviews. This score could change as more viewers share their opinions.
Viewers on Rotten Tomatoes have mostly enjoyed Mating Season, especially its funny moments, unique vibe, animation style, and the famous voice actors. Many who like Big Mouth are expected to enjoy this new series as well. While Netflix hasn’t announced whether the show will be back for another season, both reviews and the creators are hoping for a second season if Netflix decides to renew it.
Critics and audiences both seem to enjoy Mating Season. While audience ratings are high, the show currently has a 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 11 critic reviews. Like viewers, critics appreciate the show’s clever humor, heartwarming story, positive message, and overall entertainment value in its first season.
The animated rom-com Mating Season features a cast of talking animals. Zach Woods voices Tom the grizzly bear, Nick Kroll plays Ray the raccoon, June Diane Raphael is Fawn the deer, and Sabrina Jalees voices Penelope the fox. The show also includes Abbi Jacobson as Summer the beagle, David Duchovny as Charles the deer, Jason Alexander as Alan the deer, Timothy Olyphant as Dylan the wolf, and a wide range of other comedic talents and experienced voice actors.
With Mating Season, Timothy Olyphant returns to Netflix after appearing in Terminator Zero, an animated series based on the popular Terminator franchise. Unfortunately, Terminator Zero was canceled after only one season. Olyphant previously worked with Netflix on Santa Clarita Diet, which also ended after three seasons.
I always knew Timothy Olyphant was versatile, but I was surprised to learn just how much voice work he’d done before Mating Season! He’s lent his voice to so many popular animated shows, both for adults and kids. I mean, Archer, American Dad, even Rick and Morty – he’s been all over the place! And it’s not just edgy stuff, he’s done The Simpsons, The Great North, and even shows like Bubble Guppies and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He’s even been in a Terminator cartoon and the new Gremlins series, plus 1 Happy Family USA*! It really shows his range as an actor.
Following his role in Mating Season, Timothy Olyphant has several exciting new projects on the way. This summer, he’ll appear in the Apple TV+ thriller Lucky with Anya Taylor-Joy, and the Peacock drama The Five Star Weekend alongside Jennifer Garner. Later this fall, he’ll return as James Stacy in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood from David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino.
