Marvel Studios Spoils When the Avengers Will Lose Again In the MCU

Marvel Studios announced that the Avengers will suffer another defeat in a 2025 Disney+ series titled “Marvel Zombies.” Before their epic clash with Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday“, the powerful superhero team will face the zombie apocalypse in this R-rated streaming series. This marks the first time the MCU’s top heroes have joined forces since “Avengers: Endgame“.

In this undying saga, it seems that the Avengers might suffer another defeat. This is not far from their previous loss to Thanos, the Mad Titan, as seen in “Avengers: Infinity War,” where Josh Brolin’s character eliminated half of existence. They may face another defeat in the upcoming film, “Avengers: Doomsday.

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can tell you that, based on the official synopsis from Marvel Studios, things are looking grim in the upcoming animated series, Marvel Zombies. If the past is any indicator, it seems our beloved Avengers may meet their match against this series’ undead threat and unfortunately succumb to it.

The new Disney+ series is set in a scenario where the Avengers have been infected by a zombie outbreak. The story then follows the remaining members as they struggle to salvage their world.

In the aftermath of the Avengers being infected with a zombie virus, a desperate band of survivors embark on a mission to find the solution that will stop these powerful undead creatures. They journey through a post-apocalyptic world, putting their lives on the line as they strive to save their world from destruction.

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but notice yet another instance where Earth’s Mightiest Heroes face defeat, an occurrence that seems more frequent than expected in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The animated spin-off “Marvel Zombies” is a fresh addition to the beloved What If…? streaming series by Marvel. This storyline explores an alternate universe where zombies have infected prominent characters from the Marvel Universe, such as Scarlet Witch, Thanos, Iron Man, and Captain America. The new series will debut on Disney+ starting September 24.

The MCU Avengers’ Losing Track Record

As a long-standing fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I must admit that witnessing the on-screen adaptation of the Avengers repeatedly fall short hasn’t been a shock. So, when they met their match against the zombie virus in “Marvel Zombies,” it wasn’t entirely unexpected.

As a cinephile looking back at the cinematic spectacle that was “Avengers: Infinity War”, it’s hard to ignore the heart-wrenching moment when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, with whom I’ve grown quite fond over the years, were unable to prevent the Mad Titan Thanos from carrying out his genocidal plan. The result? A catastrophic snap that eliminated half of the universe’s population, including some of my personal favorites like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange – leaving me (and millions of other fans) in a state of shock and disbelief.

However, that is nowhere near the only time the team has been on the losing side of a battle.

In “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Scarlet Witch, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, caused internal conflicts within the Avengers, leading to individual members experiencing visions and the Hulk embarking on a destructive spree in South Africa. Later, in “Captain America: Civil War,” Baron Von Zemo cleverly drove a wedge between the team members by setting them against each other.

It’s intriguing to consider whether the team will persist with their losing streak when Avengers: Doomsday premieres, given that it serves as a prelude for the grand Multiversal conflict anticipated in Avengers: Secret Wars.
