Since its launch, Astro Bot has received several expansions with new challenges beyond the original game, including the Vicious Void DLC which surprised fans last summer. However, there hasn’t been much news about Astro Bot in 2026, leading many to speculate that an announcement for Astro Bot 2 might be coming soon (according to discussions on Reddit).
With a PlayStation showcase scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM EST, many gamers are hoping Sony will finally announce a new Astro Bot game. The presentation is expected to heavily feature Marvel’s Wolverine, but it will be over an hour long and include announcements of other new games as well.
PlayStation fans are buzzing with anticipation for a big reveal from one of their favorite game series. While some are hoping for long-shot sequels like Bloodborne 2 or a new inFAMOUS game, others are predicting something fresh from the Uncharted universe. More realistically, many expect to see news or a trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet soon.

Dedicated fans of Astro Bot will remember that about 3.5 to 4 years passed between the release of Astro’s Playroom – the free PlayStation 5 demo created by Team Asobi – and the full Astro Bot game. Considering Team Asobi has likely been working on Astro Bot 2 for some time, it’s possible we could see an announcement for the sequel this year or next.
Okay, so everyone’s buzzing about a possible Astro Bot sequel, but honestly, it’s all just rumors right now and a lot of us think it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. One commenter, Beginning-Dentist610, pointed out it could be a while – like 2027 or 2028! They made a good point: even though Astro Bot felt fresh, it was actually building on two previous games, Rescue Mission and Astro’s Playroom, reusing some stuff from them. And even with that head start, it still took 3.5 years to make!
Even though we don’t know for sure if Astro Bot 2 will be announced, fans are eagerly anticipating the State of Play on June 2nd, hoping to get a glimpse of the game.
