The Boys Officially Crowns A New ‘Most Powerful Supe’ In Its Final Episode

Warning: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for The Boys season 5 finale, “Blood and Bone.”

For seven years, Homelander has been the most powerful superhero in The Boys, and that’s why he’s always been the main bad guy. Even when new, strong villains like Soldier Boy and Stormfront appeared, none of them could dethrone him, making his eventual downfall particularly satisfying.

Following Homelander’s takeover of the White House after obtaining V-One, the finale of The Boys showed the heroes making a desperate, all-out effort to defeat him, understanding it was their final opportunity. Despite fighting back against Butcher and Kimiko and almost getting away, his own son intervened, keeping him engaged in the battle.

Ryan and Butcher managed to restrain Homelander, allowing Kimiko to unleash her power and, for the first time ever, completely disable him. Seeing him truly frightened and helpless was a moment of satisfaction, but Butcher didn’t hesitate to finish him, finally ending his destructive rule.

With Homelander gone, his son Ryan seemed poised to become the strongest superpowered person. However, Ryan lost his abilities in the final fight, and Soldier Boy was defeated earlier in the season. Considering who remained after the events of The Boys, one character clearly stands out as the new most powerful supe.

After The Boys’ Series Finale, Only One Character Can Be The Most Powerful Supe

After the final showdown, most of the formerly dominant superpowered individuals are gone. Homelander, Butcher, and many of Vought’s top supes have died. Soldier Boy is contained again, and Ryan no longer has powers. This leaves only a few people with abilities left, but none are as strong as Marie Moreau – the most powerful super remaining in The Boys universe.

Marie first appeared in the Gen V series and has gradually grown stronger over time. From the beginning, she showed great potential as a hero, but controlling her powers, which involve manipulating blood, was a challenge. Despite her good intentions, this sometimes made her more of a hindrance than a help.

She seemed to have as much potential as Victoria Neuman, one of the most dangerous super-powered individuals in the series, but her powers were actually even more advanced. Working with Cipher, she learned to control blood and, incredibly, could even heal people from near-fatal injuries – she’d even brought her sister back to life.

Despite some changes made in The Boys season 5 that affected the established storyline of Gen V, and attempts to minimize Marie’s abilities, no other superhero possesses her unique skillset. While she’s still developing full control over her powers, she’s already far more powerful than anyone else.

As a huge fan of The Boys, I used to see Marie as someone who could eventually challenge Homelander. But now? Forget that. She’s undeniably the most powerful person in that whole universe. That quick appearance in the season 5 finale felt way too short, and honestly, they need to bring her back – I can’t imagine her story ending there!

Marie’s Story Needs To Continue After The Boys’ Final Episode

While the finale of The Boys successfully wrapped up most of its main storylines, it unfortunately didn’t give the characters from Gen V much to do, limiting them to brief appearances. This meant they didn’t get the proper conclusion their stories deserved, and now that Gen V has been canceled, Marie’s story needs to be continued in some way.

It feels a bit disappointing that the most powerful hero from The Boys simply ended up in Canada, aiming to generally ‘do good.’ While it’s good she survived and found a new team, her character deserved a more satisfying and impactful ending.

It’s comforting to know Marie and her team are always trying to do the right thing, but honestly, after everything they’ve endured and given up, it just feels… unsatisfying that their story might end here, so suddenly. They didn’t get to be part of taking down Homelander, and it’s frustrating that they’re still portrayed as people on the run instead of the heroes they deserve to be seen as. It doesn’t feel like a proper ending for their sacrifices.

While it will take effort to regain public confidence in superheroes, focusing on a new generation of heroes – like continuing the story of Marie and her group as Vought’s next team – could be a more rewarding path. This approach could allow Vought to finally become the positive symbol for America it always intended to be.

This also allows truly kind heroes to find happiness without losing their values. Even if Stan benefits from their actions, they’ve met him before and can ensure he doesn’t go too far.

The show The Boys could take Marie’s character in a fresh direction, and no matter what happens with the series, this powerful character deserves to return in a future project and keep developing her potential.
