June 1 will be a critical day for Dungeons & Dragons fans.
This popular fantasy role-playing game first came out in 1974 and has been a favorite ever since. It’s become a huge franchise, inspiring a wide range of products like TV shows, video games, comics, books, toys, a stage show, and even movies. Now, one of those films is becoming available to stream for free.
After being in cinemas for three years, the fantasy adventure film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is now available to watch for free online. Directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the 2023 movie tells the story of a likeable thief and his quirky team who set out on a grand quest to find a missing artifact, but they quickly find themselves in trouble with dangerous enemies.
Starting June 1st, you can watch Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem on Pluto TV. Both of these popular 2023 Paramount films will be available to stream for free, exclusively on the platform.
The movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant, alongside Regé-Jean Page, Rylan Jackson, Chloe Coleman, Sophia Nell-Huntley, Daisy Head, Jason Wong, Bradley Cooper, Ian Hanmore, Georgia Landers, Spencer Wilding, Bryan Larkin, Paul Bazely, Tom Morello, and Jude Hill. Michael Gilio co-wrote the screenplay, which was based on a story by Chris McKay.
When Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves came out, it was a hit with critics. It earned a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and reviewers praised it as a fun, lighthearted comedy with a lot of heart. They said it’s an enjoyable fantasy adventure even if you’re not familiar with the game.
The Dungeons & Dragons movie was a hit with regular moviegoers, earning a 92% approval rating. They enjoyed how the film mixed action, fantasy, and humor into a fun experience, and appreciated its faithfulness to the original game. Despite this positive reception, the movie’s box office earnings of $208.2 million were considered underwhelming, especially considering its $150 million production cost.
Despite a somewhat disappointing performance in theaters, there’s talk of continuing the story of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, potentially with a sequel made on a lower budget. A spin-off TV series is also currently being developed.
