Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Is Replacing A Fan-Favorite Character For Good

Fans looking for a character like the beloved Odo have found a great new option in the latest Star Trek series, Star Trek: Stargazers. A charming new Changeling has recently appeared on the show.

Okay, so I just started reading Stargazers on WEBTOON, and it’s seriously cool! They dropped the first three episodes on May 17th, and it’s basically bringing Deep Space Nine to a whole new audience. It’s a young adult romance, and the format is perfect for reading on your phone – it’s that vertical scrolling comic style. The story picks up after the events of DS9, and they’ve introduced some awesome new characters, like Kenga, this really sweet Changeling who works on the Promenade. Kenga is actually one of the main character’s best friends, and I have a feeling they’re going to be a really important character as the series goes on – they’re planning 40 episodes total!

Deep Space Nine Introduces the New Changeling Kenga

After reading Stargazers, it’s clear why Kenga is a great fit to follow in Odo’s footsteps. Though she doesn’t work in security like he did, Kenga is a kind and admirable character aboard the ship. As the station’s hairdresser and makeup artist, she naturally connects with others and reveals a more gentle side of the Changelings.

In the series Stargazers, viewers meet Kenga as part of a new group of characters experiencing the challenges of young adulthood. The story mainly follows Leon, a cheerful recent graduate who spends his time with his tight-knit friends. Joining them are Churi, a gifted Bajoran inventor, and Leon’s endearing dog, Alfie.

I’m really excited for Stargazers! The previews hint at some serious drama between Leon and his best friend, Syrrik. It looks like Leon is all about exploring new things and figuring out his own way, while Syrrik is super focused on following the path his dad wants for him – getting into Starfleet Academy. Apparently, this difference in how they see things causes a heartbreaking rift between them, and I’m honestly bracing myself for it!

I’m so excited for Stargazers! It looks like Leon and Syrrik, who have a history, are going to find their way back to each other, and it sounds like things get pretty romantic! But it’s not just a love story, apparently. They and their friends get caught up in a huge mystery – a station-wide animal smuggling operation – all while trying to put on a talent show. It sounds like a really fun and exciting mix of everything!

Leon and Syrrik will face increasing challenges, eventually forcing them to consider their desired future. The series, Stargazers, is created by Arrett Melendez, known for works like Chef’s Kiss and Young Men in Love, and features art by Kisai Entertainment. It’s currently planned as a 40-episode run.

Odo Remains a Fan-Favorite Deep Space Nine Character

Although Stargazers mainly highlights other characters from Deep Space Nine, it’s good to see the story continuing. Odo, the shapeshifting security officer on Deep Space Nine, was a fan favorite, so Kenga has a lot to live up to.

It’s still unclear how Kenga’s character will grow throughout the Stargazers series, but she definitely has the potential to become a compelling character. A highlight of Odo’s story in Deep Space Nine was his feeling of being an outsider and his complex journey. Stargazers, with its focus on a challenging young romance, seems like a good setup for in-depth character development – and hopefully, the supporting characters will get just as much attention as the leads, Leon and Syrrik.

The first three episodes of Star Trek: Stargazers are now available to read for free on WEBTOON.
