Even in its early stages, Subnautica 2 is receiving positive feedback, with many players considering it a strong follow-up to the original game, despite the changes being mostly small improvements. Others voiced their frustration, pointing out the delay for Subnautica 2 and comparing it to the increasing number of low-quality, AI-generated games appearing on the PlayStation store.

One user, lilfacetou, expressed frustration that low-quality, AI-generated games are available while a highly anticipated game is facing issues.
