The main Marvel Universe has lost Captain America, and it seems unlikely he or any other heroes who have died will return.
The epic conclusion of Ultimate Endgame #4 (from Deniz Camp, Terry Dodson, Rachel Dodson, Jonas Scharf, Edgar Delgado, and Cory Petit) sees Captain America and the remaining Ultimates facing overwhelming odds in Boston. They’re confronted by a massive army led by the Maker’s Captain Britain, who proves to be a devastatingly powerful opponent, even for Steve Rogers.

Fans recently witnessed Captain America’s death in the latest issue of the comic Captain America #11. This marks the second time Captain America has seemingly died in the past week. The storyline, written by Chip Zdarsky and illustrated by Valerio Schiti, depicts the hero’s fate during the conflict in Latveria, a nation struggling after the death of Doctor Doom.
In Marvel’s Ultimate Endgame #4, Spider-Man will come face-to-face with the person who created him! With the clock running out on the Ultimate Universe, this issue – the second to last in a huge, epic storyline – promises major consequences: some heroes will be defeated, villains will gain power, and beloved characters will have to make tough choices.
Over the last few months, a dramatic situation has unfolded with the Maker’s release from a long imprisonment. He’s not only become incredibly powerful, but has actually become one with the city itself. As the forces holding him back weaken, his control and influence are growing rapidly.
We’ve talked before about the upcoming end of this popular series. It’s a tough subject to discuss, and it represents the completion of everything Jonathan Hickman started. All the storylines from my book and other writers’ books are coming together for a major, emotional finale. Expect significant events and character deaths – it’s going to be quite a ride.
Even though the Ultimate Universe comic series is ending, its influence will still be felt throughout the larger Marvel Multiverse. A new series by Chris Condon and Stefano Caselli will introduce several characters gaining incredible powers from the Ultimate Universe’s Origin Boxes. However, these new heroes don’t seem interested in using their powers for good, and their actions will ultimately lead to the upcoming Armageddon event.
