No Game No Life Comes Second in Oricon’s Latest Light Novel Rankings

The thirteenth volume of No Game No Life was initially planned for release in the summer of 2023, following the release of volume twelve. However, due to the author, Yuu Kamiya’s, declining health and unexpected issues, the release has been significantly delayed.

Even though there’s a significant delay, the thirteenth volume of the series, continuing the “Demonia and Devil” storyline, is selling well. This volume follows Sora and his friends as they reach the top of the Demon King’s tower to finally confront and defeat their biggest enemy.

This week, a new light novel called Cosmic Princess Kaguya topped the charts, selling around 9,539 copies. The story is inspired by a retelling of the traditional Japanese folktale, The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. Here’s a look at the ten best-selling light novels of the week.

No Game No Life Season 2 is Still Not on the Cards

The anime No Game No Life quickly became popular when it first aired in 2014. However, despite being well-received, a second season never happened. The creator, Kamiya, has expressed his desire for the story to continue and is hoping it gets approved.

Beyond the anime, the entire franchise has been stalled for a while. The manga, created by Kamiya’s wife, Mashiro Hiiragi, has consistently faced delays and is currently on hold. Before Volume 13 of the original series was released, the light novels only received occasional extra stories.

The No Game No Life light novel series is nearing its planned conclusion, originally intended to be 16 volumes long. While over 6 million copies were in circulation as of 2021, the publisher hasn’t released updated sales figures since then.
