Sydney Sweeney recently revealed a surprising favorite TV show, and it caused a bit of a stir when she shared it online. Some shows have been on television for so long that they’ve built up huge libraries of episodes. The Simpsons, the American animated sitcom, currently holds the record as the longest-running scripted prime-time show in US history, with over 800 episodes.
Though actress Sydney Sweeney enjoys a popular show, it hasn’t reached the longevity of The Simpsons. The series she loves has aired over 590 episodes, far surpassing the run of her own TV projects. Currently starring in the third season of Euphoria (as of 2026), Sweeney first gained recognition in Netflix’s Everything Sucks, which was unfortunately canceled after just one season.
Ryan Sweeney is a huge fan of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and says he’s watched every episode several times. SVU is the first spin-off of the original Law & Order series, and it centers on detectives who investigate serious sex crimes. The show is known for being inspired by actual cases, and after 27 seasons, it’s become one of television’s longest-running crime dramas, earning over 100 award nominations.
Sydney Sweeney Once Sparked A Social Media Storm Over SVU
Sydney Sweeney has long been a fan of the Law & Order franchise, recently telling USA Today that seasons 8 through 10 are her favorites because of the show’s memorable cast. She also expressed her enjoyment of more recent Law & Order: SVU episodes, and even watched the Organized Crime spinoff, as she’s a big fan of Christopher Meloni’s character, Elliot Stabler. Sweeney further cemented her superfan status with a discussion on social media that sparked some debate.
In June 2024, Sydney Sweeney posted a photo on Instagram Stories of herself watching Law & Order: SVU at home. Fans quickly noticed, however, that she appeared to be watching the show on an unauthorized, free streaming website. While Sweeney hasn’t addressed the claims, users on Reddit identified the website’s interface in the photo.
Given that Sweeney is a huge fan of Law & Order: SVU, it’s not surprising she reportedly used an unofficial website to watch the show. While Hulu, Peacock, and sometimes Prime Video offer legal access to Law & Order: SVU seasons, streaming services don’t always have every season available all the time.
Considering this, Sweeney’s mistake isn’t entirely shocking, but it’s up to each fan to decide how they interpret her involvement with the website. What’s clear is that Sweeney truly loves Law & Order: SVU, just as she’s always stated, and her claim of watching every episode seems believable based on her posts online.
Law & Order: SVU has been renewed for a 28th season, set to air in the 2026-2027 TV season. This will make it one of the longest-running shows in television history. In 2021, Mariska Hargitay broke the record for the longest-running main character in a scripted TV series, surpassing her co-star Richard Belzer’s previous record on the show – a favorite of Sydney Sweeney.
