Well, folks, it looks like we’re saying goodbye to a truly fantastic series this month. The final episode is dropping on May 20th, but here’s a treat for the dedicated fans: Amazon is giving us a chance to see it on the big screen the night before! It’s a bittersweet moment, but a great way to close out what’s been a really memorable run.
The official X account for The Boys has announced that the series finale will be released in 4DX theaters. Participating theater chains include AMC, B&B, Cinema West, Cineplex, Cinepolis, Regal, and Regency. This release strategy is similar to what Netflix did with the Stranger Things finale and HBO Max with the The Pitt‘s* Season 2 finale, offering early access to fans at select theaters like Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas.
The Boys Is Going Out With a Bang
Here’s what’s happening on X: the series finale will have a special 4DX experience with vibrating seats! It’s going to be a big event on May 19th at 9:30 p.m. You can get a seat by buying a concession voucher that’s good for snacks or drinks on the day of the show.
Because of how the theater operates, tickets for these screenings aren’t being sold in the usual way. Instead of buying tickets directly, fans will reserve their seats by purchasing a voucher for snacks and drinks. While this secures their spot, they aren’t actually paying a separate price for the movie itself – this is similar to how the final Stranger Things movie was shown in theaters.
The Boys Reaches the End of Its Run After 7 Years
After first debuting in the summer of 2019, the latest season marks the conclusion of The Boys, which premiered roughly seven years later. Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show offers a darkly comedic take on superheroes, exploring what it would be like if they existed in the real world – and many were corrupt and misused their abilities. The Boys has become a major hit for Prime Video, earning four Primetime Emmy Awards throughout its run.
More content from the world of The Boys is on the way! Following the success of Gen V, a new prequel series called Vought Rising is in development. Set decades before the original show, Vought Rising will star Jensen Ackles and feature the return of Aya Cash as Stormfront. If popular, this new series could have a long and successful run.
The Boys will stream its on May 20, with the 4DX screenings happening on the night before.
