Marvel Officially Unveils New Avengers Lineup As Doomsday Nears

For years, Marvel movies were guaranteed box office hits, with the Avengers films representing the peak of that success and earning huge amounts of money. But since Endgame, the future of new Marvel releases feels less predictable, and their success isn’t as certain as it used to be.

Despite everything, Doomsday is still expected to be a major financial success when it’s released later this year. Having Robert Downey Jr. reprise his role as the main villain will almost certainly help, as will the possibility of seeing familiar faces from the original movies.

According to Discussing Film on Twitter/X, the classic Avengers team will be featured in a new event in the game Marvel Rivals called Path to Doomsday: The Avengers. This event is a unique battle where one player controls Loki and fights against six players controlling the Avengers.

Okay, so there are two ways to play this new event! In ‘Classic’ mode, you can pick from the original six Avengers – Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk – and one player gets to be Loki. But if you want more choice, ‘All Heroes’ mode lets you play as any character normally available in the game, though you’re still facing off against just one Loki! It’s really cool that they’ve given us options depending on who we want to play as.

Once you select your game mode, you can then choose how you want to find a match – you can queue as a specific hero, as Loki, or in the flexible role if you’re open to playing anything. Beyond the game, the event will also include movie showings and photo opportunities, all taking place on a special Times Square map inspired by the original Avengers movie.

The event continues until May 28th, and participants can earn rewards as they progress. However, NetEase, the game developer, hasn’t yet revealed exactly what those rewards will be.

The next Avengers movie is incredibly important for the future of the franchise, and its success is crucial if Marvel wants to continue the series. However, if any film can revive box office numbers, it’s likely to be this one, so hopefully it performs well and leads to many more superhero adventures.
