Ridley Scott’s Hit Horror Series Returns With Dark New Demonic Villain In The Terror Season 3 Trailer

Seven years after season 2, The Terror is back with a new season featuring a demonic villain.

Ridley Scott’s horror anthology series, The Terror, began in 2018 with an adaptation of Dan Simmons’ novel of the same name. The first season told the frightening tale of explorer ships trapped in the ice. The second season, The Terror: Infamy, premiered in 2019 and presented a new story set in a Japanese American internment camp during World War II. The first season received a positive score of 87% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. In March 2026, it was announced that the series would return for a third season, The Terror: Devil in Silver, starring Dan Stevens as a man named Pepper who is wrongly committed to a psychiatric hospital.

The first trailer for The Terror: Devil in Silver is now available! It starts by showing a warm relationship between the main character, Pepper, and his stepdaughter. However, things quickly turn dark when a conflict with his partner’s ex escalates into a violent confrontation, leading to Pepper’s arrest. He’s then sent to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital, where he encounters unsettling patients, manipulative doctors, a terrifying demonic presence, and a mysterious secret hidden behind a silver door. You can watch the trailer below.

Jared Stevens not only starred in The Terror: Devil in Silver, but he also served as an executive producer for all six episodes, working with Scott, Chris Cantwell, Victor LaValle, and Karyn Kusama, who all shared showrunning and writing duties. Kusama directed the first two episodes, which will debut on AMC+ and Shudder on May 7th, with new episodes released weekly after that. The full season will also air on AMC later this year.

The series features a talented cast including Judith Light, Aasif Mandvi, Hampton Fluker, CCH Pounder, Chinaza Uche, Stephen Root, Hayward Leach, John Benjamin Hickey, Michael Aronov, Philip Ettinger, and Marin Ireland. Stevens plays a character in a psychiatric hospital, a role that may remind viewers of his work on FX’s Legion, though that show involved mutants and an alternate timeline. The Terror: Devil in Silver, however, leans more heavily into demonic horror.

Dan Stevens is an actor I’ve been consistently impressed with – you might recognize him from his standout role in Legion, or perhaps as the Beast in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, or even as Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey. But the talent doesn’t stop with the actors! Behind the scenes, this show boasts the incredible Ridley Scott as an executive producer. Scott’s films – classics like Alien, Thelma & Louise, and Gladiator – really shaped modern cinema, and he’s been involved with The Terror since day one. It’s a seriously strong creative team all around.

Kusama directed the highly praised first episode and season finale of the popular show Yellowjackets. Cantwell co-created and ran the series Halt and Catch Fire, and LaValle is the author of The Changeling, which has been turned into a TV show on Apple TV.

The new season of The Terror: Devil in Silver kicks off with two episodes on May 7th, available on both AMC+ and Shudder. After that, new episodes will be released every week.
