Forget about it – they just want to control everything and kill anyone who gets in their way. These characters are generally just trying to live and get by. They aren’t necessarily cruel or heartless, and can even be kind. However, as protagonists in a Warhammer 40K story, they wouldn’t offer readers much insight into the Imperium’s structure or the actions of its leaders.

Given the dark and often hopeless tone of the world, and the absence of truly heroic characters, it’s a challenge for the show’s creators to attract viewers beyond existing fans. At the same time, the forces of Chaos are constantly trying to undermine the Imperium by turning its citizens against it. Expect to see shadowy groups gaining followers – these kinds of plots will appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

The new TV series could significantly grow the existing fanbase. The creators should carefully consider what works and doesn’t work within the established world. Viewers will likely be more interested in the major organizations and groups than in stories solely focused on characters behaving badly.
