Zemo’s return could be a major boost for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s often considered one of the MCU’s most compelling, yet overlooked, villains and could bring a new dynamic to the franchise.
Daniel Brühl portrays Baron Helmut Zemo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s best known for his significant role in Captain America: Civil War, where he masterminded the conflict between Captain America and Iron Man. Zemo also appeared in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and a different version of the character, voiced by Rama Vallury, was featured in Marvel Zombies.
Why could Zemo’s return be a great move for the MCU?
A new report suggests that Zemo may appear in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe project. While details are currently unknown – it’s unclear which project he might be in – this information is currently just a rumor. Marvel has not confirmed Zemo’s return, so it’s important to take this report with a grain of salt.
Despite everything, Marvel Studios should definitely bring Zemo back. He was a fantastic villain in Captain America: Civil War, and there are many great storylines from the comics that haven’t been used yet. For instance, Zemo originally created a team called the Thunderbolts. While a version of that team, now known as the New Avengers, already exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be exciting to see Zemo build his own team of villains for the New Avengers to battle.
I really think there’s so much more potential with Zemo! The MCU usually focuses on the heroes and their connections, so it would be amazing to see a project entirely from his perspective. Instead of just using him once, they could really build him up as a recurring villain – someone we love to hate and always expect to show up and cause trouble. It would be a really cool twist!
