According to The Hollywood Reporter, several actresses are being considered for the role of Maxima in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. The report names Adria Arjona, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten as potential candidates.
This announcement follows James Gunn’s previous denial of a report from Deadline that actresses like Ella Purnell, Adria Arjona, and Marisa Abela were being considered for the role of Maxima. He addressed the rumors in a statement posted on Threads.
Look, this isn’t about Nexus – they’re just repeating what Deadline said. But honestly, Deadline’s reporting on this is just bad and wrong. I used to think they did a good job with their research, but I’m really disappointed this time. We would have immediately told them that information was false if they’d just checked with us first. I’ve known Adria for years, ever since I cast her in ‘Belko Experiment,’ and I’m a big fan of both Marisa and Ella, though I haven’t personally met them. It’s all just…wild.
A recent report in The Hollywood Reporter mentions actor Arjona, who James Gunn previously confirmed was not among the initial names circulated. However, Gunn hasn’t commented on the new report suggesting that De Dominici, Chandler, and Van Patten are also being considered. Arjona has collaborated with Gunn before on The Belko Experiment, which Gunn produced, and is also known for his roles in the Star Wars series Andor and the film Hit Man.
