Apple TV+’s new dark comedy, Outcome, is generating buzz with its impressive cast and crew. What’s particularly surprising is how readily Keanu Reeves signed on to be a part of it.
Apple TV+’s Outcome tells the story of a well-known actor newly in recovery. Despite trying to rebuild his life, he quickly finds himself caught in a blackmail plot that threatens everything he’s worked for.
Jonah Hill Won Keanu Reeves Over After Just One Meeting
Keanu Reeves recently told ScreenRant that he quickly decided to join the project. It wasn’t a long process of discussing the script or negotiating terms. Instead, he was won over by a personal meeting with Jonah Hill, who invited Reeves to his home to share his vision for the film. That conversation made a strong impression and convinced Reeves to sign on.
You know, during our meeting, Hill really laid out his whole vision for the series, and honestly, it was captivating. He described this incredible tone he was going for, and then he introduced me to Reef Hawk – my character – this movie star who’s just constantly dealing with drama, problems, and a never-ending stream of people who want to make his life difficult. It was such a compelling idea, I couldn’t say no. It just felt like something special.
What really impressed Reeves was Hill’s genuine passion. His excitement about the Outcome project, along with his willingness to collaborate and think outside the box, immediately made the presentation memorable. Reeves was so convinced by Hill’s ideas that he agreed to join the project right then and there.
The actor also shared that he’d been a longtime fan of Hill’s work, which made agreeing to the project a simple decision. He particularly praised Hill’s first film as a director, Mid90s, saying it convinced him that this project had the potential to be truly exceptional.
Meeting him was fantastic. We connected at his home in Malibu, and he was incredibly generous, enthusiastic, and had a really inspiring vision – it was contagious! I’m a big fan of his work and acting, especially his film Mid90s. I was immediately eager to collaborate with him, and I gave him my enthusiastic agreement right away.
Cameron Diaz Offers a Look Behind the Scenes of Outcome
The movie itself seems to have been exceptionally well-made. Cameron Diaz, who played Kyle, shared that a lot of the filming involved improvisation. Director Hill encouraged the actors to go beyond the script and explore different ways to play scenes. This led to longer takes and a wealth of footage for editing. Diaz noted that this freedom allowed the cast to improve almost every scene.
Let me tell you, filming this movie was an experience! We’d shoot scenes for ages, exploring so many different takes and lines of dialogue. What you actually see in the final cut is really down to the director and editor’s vision, the story they wanted to tell. We had tons of alternate lines, and honestly, Matt Damon had the toughest job with all those options – he was incredible to watch navigate it all. It was a blast, truly a lot of fun to be a part of.
Matt Bomer Was Inspired By His Outcome Co-Stars
Matt Bomer, who played Xander in Outcome, said the role was a significant learning experience. He enjoyed working with Reeves and Diaz, learning from both the story and his talented co-stars. Bomer especially appreciated their professionalism and emotional understanding, noting that their advice helped him improve his own performance.
Beyond just their talent, working with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock was a huge learning experience. They’re both incredibly emotionally aware, and I still value the wisdom and guidance they shared with me. Those lessons were truly invaluable.
Outcome is currently available to stream on Apple TV.
