Dedicated fans have received a sneak peek at the direction Toyotarou is taking the story in the next volume of the manga.
Fans recently discovered a difference in the cover of the Spanish release of Dragon Ball Super Volume 24. Unlike the English and Japanese editions, the Spanish version reveals a sneak peek at the next piece of artwork in the spine series created by artist Toyotarou for the Dragon Ball Super manga.
This discovery follows Toyotarou’s announcement that he’s developing the next official volume, making this cover art a sneak peek of what fans can expect when it’s released.
Dragon Ball Super Fans Discover the Next Volume’s Spine Art Early
A fan, @danihalamadrid8, recently shared an image of the cover for the Spanish version of Dragon Ball Super Volume 24. The spine features a cute, smaller version of Seven Three, a villain and minion of Wizard Moro. Moro’s story arc is confirmed to be getting an anime adaptation.
The Spanish editions of Dragon Ball Super manga volumes gradually fell slightly ahead of other releases due to a cropping issue with the spine. Fans first noticed this with Volume 5, where the cover cut off the top of Zeno’s head, unlike the Japanese version which showed his full face.
This error gave fans an early look at the planned cover art for future volumes of the Dragon Ball Super manga, which Toyotarou had already designed.
In an interview with the official Dragon Ball website last year, artist Toyotarou explained that the characters featured on the manga’s spine are designed and illustrated several volumes ahead of time.
He confessed he never expected such a contrast: the cover of the volume showcasing the gang’s strongest members, while the spine featured Shimorekka, one of their weakest. He was referring to the Japanese release of Volume 24, which used Shimorekka’s image on the spine artwork.
Toyotarou mentioned he’s already designed the characters that will appear on future book covers, and he’s excited for fans to see them. However, due to the way the Spanish editions are trimmed, fans have caught a glimpse of these designs earlier than expected.
Fans of the English version of Dragon Ball Super will soon see artwork by Seven Three on the cover of Volume 25, marking Toyotarou’s return to the manga. Although there’s no news yet about when Chapter 105 will be released, a recent announcement has given fans hope that Shueisha will start focusing more attention on the continuation of the series.
Fans have something to anticipate: a new version of the Dragon Ball Super anime, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is coming out in Winter 2026.
