She’s incredibly versatile as an actress, seamlessly moving between funny roles and more serious performances. She’s also proven her talent as a voice actor, notably in the highly popular Spider-Verse movies, demonstrating her ability to bring even superhero characters to life.
This also impacts the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, which is where Josh Brolin is most famous for his work. It’s unlikely we’ll see him in future Marvel films unless Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars include a lot of surprise appearances. However, this won’t affect his nine-episode fantasy thriller within the franchise, which continues to improve.
Agatha All Along Was Much Better Than Expected
As a huge fan of Marvel’s more experimental stuff, I’ve been really into Agatha All Along. It’s a fantasy thriller, much like WandaVision was before it. What pushes it into thriller territory is the suspenseful, horror-tinged mystery at its core – it really keeps you on the edge of your seat! And the fantasy element is obvious, considering the whole show revolves around Agatha’s coven and their magical journey along the Witches Road. It’s a really cool blend of genres.
Many viewers were pleasantly surprised by Agatha All Along, thanks to its unique mix of genres and strong acting. Before the show came out, people questioned whether it was needed or even requested. However, those doubts proved unfounded, and many quickly changed their minds after seeing it.
Critics and viewers both loved the series. It has an 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences largely agree, with 82% giving it positive reviews. On IMDb, even the lowest-rated episode scored a solid 7.2 out of 10, while the best episodes reached a 9 out of 10 – a score typically reserved for top-tier Marvel shows.
Evidently, everyone was wrong to judge Agatha All Along so harshly before seeing anything from it.
Agatha All Along Was An MCU Sleeper Hit
It quickly became apparent when Agatha All Along premiered, and continues to be true, that the show was a surprising success. While it’s the second-least-watched series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ahead of only Echo, that hasn’t been a problem. Agatha All Along is the most affordable Marvel Studios show ever made for Disney+, costing just $40 million for all nine episodes.
Despite a modest start, Agatha All Along quickly became a surprise success, boosted by positive word-of-mouth that led to growing viewership throughout the series. Variety reported that the first episode attracted 3.1 million viewers within a day of its release. By the finale, episodes 7, 8, and 9 were averaging 4.2, 4.6, and 3.9 million views, respectively.
Most shows start with a big splash but lose viewers over time. However, Agatha did the opposite. It steadily gained popularity, boosted by positive reviews and recommendations, and quickly became a very successful and profitable series for Marvel Studios on Disney+ – proving those who doubted it wrong.
Agatha All Along Will Only Keep Getting Better
The enduring appeal of Agatha All Along is likely due to its lasting influence on the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe, and surprisingly, the fact that future MCU events won’t significantly affect its story. The series was largely self-contained, even though it built upon WandaVision and introduced Scarlet Witch’s son, Billy Maximoff. Unlike shows like Loki or The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, its focus remained tightly on its own characters and didn’t revolve around massive, universe-altering events.
This suggests that upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects probably won’t connect to the characters or storyline of Agatha All Along. This will allow the show to remain as it is, without any new developments that could negatively impact it when viewers rewatch it. Essentially, Agatha All Along is poised to hold up well over time.
Despite the show’s new direction, it will still connect to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ending of Agatha All Along showed Billy and Agatha searching for Billy’s brother, Tommy, who is set to be in the 2026 film Vision Quest, the third movie in the WandaVision storyline. This means Agatha’s actions could directly affect Vision Quest by potentially bringing Wanda and Vision’s twin sons back together.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really hoping Vision Quest delivers! If it’s good, it’ll complete what feels like a perfect little trilogy with WandaVision and, of course, Agatha All Along. Marvel seems to see these three projects as one big story, even though they weren’t planned that way from the start. If Vision Quest is as amazing as the first two, then Agatha All Along will definitely be remembered as part of one of the MCU’s very best trilogies – something fans will enjoy for years to come!
