As a critic, I was thrilled to see Daredevil: Born Again finally bring a fan-favorite young hero into the MCU – making them the ninth so far! It’s clear Marvel Studios has been actively looking to introduce a new generation of heroes ever since WandaVision kicked off Phase 4 after Avengers: Endgame. We’ve been hearing whispers of a Young Avengers project – a movie or Disney+ series – for five years, but it seems those Champions are being held back until after Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s a bit frustrating for fans, but perhaps it’s the right move for the bigger picture.
I was so excited to see a new hero join the Marvel universe in the latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again! Camila Rodriguez’s character, Angela del Toro, finally took up her uncle’s amulet and became the White Tiger. It was a really powerful moment, especially knowing her uncle was a hero too, and sadly killed by Wilson Fisk’s team in the first season. It felt like she was honoring his memory while stepping into her own role.

Angela surprised Karen Paige while she was helping Daredevil rescue prisoners and vigilantes from Red Hook. Meanwhile, White Tiger showed up at the prison intending to free her aunt, Soledad, and had already managed to steal weapons and gear from the AVTF.

The Disney+ show hasn’t revealed the specific powers Hector and Angela got from their Amulet of Power, but it’s thought to give whoever wears it incredibly strong strength, fast healing, and super speed.

A group of vigilantes freed a military vehicle to transport Kingpin’s captives to a safe location, with Tony Dalton’s character, the Swordsman, driving during the daring escape.

The young White Tiger is now predicted to team up with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil (Matt Murdock) to oppose Mayor Fisk and his forces. Plus, Angela del Toro is the ninth young superhero to officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Every Other Kid Superhero Introduced In the MCU So Far
Peter Parker

Tom Holland first appeared as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017, as a young, inexperienced hero mentored by Iron Man. Now, Spider-Man is more independent. The upcoming film will jump four years ahead of the events of No Way Home, showing Peter Parker in his early twenties and moving past his teenage years after nine years within the MCU.
Billy Maximoff

As a huge Marvel fan, I was completely blown away by WandaVision and the way Wanda created those kids, Billy and Tommy. It seemed like a heartbreaking twist when the Hex went down, but then we got hints in Agatha All Along that they weren’t really gone, just…reborn! Now, it looks like Billy’s actively searching for his brother Tommy, and there’s a lot of buzz that Tommy will be showing up in the upcoming VisionQuest series. Honestly, I’m so excited to see where this all goes!
Tommy Maximoff

This year, Marvel Studios will wrap up the WandaVision story with VisionQuest. The new project will officially feature Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff, now grown up and known as Speed. Speed’s appearance will highlight the central theme of fatherhood in VisionQuest, and fans are excited to see him reconnect with his twin, Billy, and possibly team up with other young heroes in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie.
America Chavez

I was so impressed with Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! She really carried the movie, especially with Scarlet Witch chasing her all over the Multiverse because of her incredible ability to open portals. It’s just… strange to me that reports suggest we won’t be seeing her in Doomsday or Secret Wars, but I’m holding out hope that things might change soon. I really want to see more of her!
Ms. Marvel

Iman Vellani’s portrayal of Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, has been a highlight of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga. Even though her character’s backstory and powers have been updated – changing her origins from an Inhuman to a mutant and giving her abilities based on light – she’s resonated with audiences. Ms. Marvel is now leading a new team of young heroes called the Champions, and they’re expected to play a significant role in future Avengers films. There’s also talk that the Champions could eventually get their own series on Disney+.
Love

In Thor: Love & Thunder, Christian Bale’s character, Gorr, embarked on a mission to kill gods, but ultimately used his final wish to bring his daughter, Love, back to life. Now, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is raising Love as his adopted daughter, and the pair are traveling through space to help others. We’ll see Love again in Avengers: Doomsday this December.
Franklin Richards

Okay, so “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” gave us our first look at Franklin Richards – Reed and Sue’s son, and a seriously powerful kid. I mean, this four-year-old is basically born with cosmic powers! And it seems like he’s going to be a big deal in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” movie. Even as a baby, he was flexing those abilities in “First Steps” – he actually brought his mother back to life after she sacrificed herself fighting Galactus. Pretty intense stuff, and definitely sets him up as a force to be reckoned with.
Kid Loki

Okay, so Disney+’s Loki really threw me for a loop! Watching Tom Hiddleston’s Loki meet all these different versions of himself in the Void was wild. We had the wonderfully dapper Classic Loki played by Richard E. Grant, the hilariously arrogant Boastful Loki, and even… an alligator Loki! But the most interesting new Loki for me was Kid Loki. He had a seriously tragic backstory – getting pruned by the TVA after killing Thor – and somehow ended up as the king of this bizarre realm. Honestly, the show left me wondering what actually happened to him after everything went down, which is a little frustrating, but also keeps you thinking!
BONUS.) Kate Bishop

While Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop isn’t a child – she was 22 when she first appeared in Hawkeye – Kamala Khan treats her like one. In The Marvels, Kamala playfully asks Kate, “Do you think you’re the only kid superhero?” as a way of inviting her to join a new team, hinting that they could become the next generation of heroes, similar to the Champions from the comics.
BONUS.) Ironheart

Dominique Thorne plays Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart – a brilliant young inventor who uses a high-tech suit. She’s not simply taking over for Tony Stark, though. Recently, Ironheart teamed up with a group of young heroes in the animated series Marvel Zombies. And after making a deal with Sacha Baron Cohen’s character, Mephisto, Riri will be facing some serious challenges when she appears next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
BONUS.) Cassie Lang

I first met Cassie Lang way back in 2015 when she was just a little kid, and it was so cool to see her all grown up in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania! They actually recast the role with Kathryn Newton for that movie, which was a bit surprising. Now, everyone’s hoping she’ll be back for the next Avengers films and maybe even team up with other young heroes like Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, and Ironheart. It would be amazing to see a whole new generation of superheroes working together!
BONUS.) Skaar

As a Marvel fan, I was pretty surprised when She-Hulk: Attorney at Law dropped the news that Hulk actually has a son! Apparently, during his time on Sakaar, Bruce Banner had a kid named Skaar. Marvel has said he’s a teenager and describes him as kind of cocky and tough, which sounds…interesting. But honestly, I’m a little frustrated because we don’t know if or when we’ll even see Skaar, so it’s hard to get excited about these traits without knowing if they’ll ever matter to the bigger story!
BONUS.) Eli Bradley

The Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier featured Eli Bradley, played by Elijah Richardson, as the grandson of Isaiah Bradley. In the Marvel comics, Eli eventually becomes the superhero Patriot. However, Marvel Studios decided not to include Eli Bradley in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, so it’s currently unknown if the character will reappear or ever get the chance to become Patriot.
