The Batman 2 finally has a filming date.

For three years now, Matt Reeves has been at the helm of The Batman, but progress on the anticipated sequel has been gradual. However, Reeves and his co-writer Mattson Tomlin have recently submitted their script to DC leaders James Gunn and Peter Safran. With the movie’s 2027 release date drawing near, the start date for filming has finally been disclosed.

When will The Batman 2 start filming?

According to Deadline’s report, “The Batman II (2027)” will start filming in the spring, and there are other projects in the works as well.

The update on filming takes place a few days following the announcement that Reeves’ Batman sequel has progressed into pre-production, with plans to film it at Warner Bros. Studios in London next year.

The specifics concerning Batman 2 are being kept secret. However, it’s been confirmed that Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. While neither Reeves nor Warner Bros. have officially announced it, there’s speculation that Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell might return to their roles as Alfred Pennyworth, Jim Gordon, and The Penguin respectively, in the sequel.

In this narrative, the story unfolds with Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne in his second year of crime-fighting, donning the role of Batman. The focus of his mission is to track down and apprehend a notorious serial killer, nicknamed The Riddler, played by Paul Dano. This enigmatic figure has been systematically targeting Gotham’s most influential and morally bankrupt citizens.

In March 2022, the movie “The Batman” was launched to critical acclaim and financial prosperity, earning more than $772 million globally. Just a month after its release, Warner Bros. officially confirmed plans for a follow-up film.

In different terms, Matt Reeves’ Batman belongs to the DC Elseworlds series, which stands apart from James Gunn’s interconnected universe. Unfortunately, the follow-up film has experienced several postponements, and as of now, The Batman 2 is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
