Amid 4-Year Wait, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Finally Gets Positive Update

There’s positive momentum building for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The third and final film in the acclaimed animated series has faced numerous delays, but things are finally looking up for Miles Morales and the project.

The latest installment in the popular franchise is here, and this time, it features Peter B. Parker, the experienced Spider-Man who mentors Miles Morales. Jake Johnson, who voices Peter B. Parker in all three films, recently spoke with , and his comments have excited Marvel fans who have been eagerly awaiting the release.

Everyone was eager to know if the actor had started recording his lines, and his answer was exactly what we all hoped for! It was such a relief and got me really excited for the movie.

Has Beyond the Spider-Verse Reached a New Threshold?

“Yes,” he said. “I’ve started recording. And it’s excellent.”

This is important news for a couple of reasons. Earlier in 2024, Jake Johnson stated he hadn’t recorded any new dialogue for his character, Peter B. Parker, in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, he recently mentioned that situation has now changed.

A comment he made two years ago sparked rumors that his character might have been removed from the movie. However, that didn’t quite add up, especially considering the ending of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The final scene showed Peter B. Parker and his baby daughter, Mayday, teaming up with Gwen and others to find and rescue Morales on Earth-42.

It’s great that Tom Holland will be back as Spider-Man. Not only is it the logical choice, but his character also needs to make amends with Miles Morales after what happened in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. This return offers Parker a chance at redemption and to earn Morales’ forgiveness.

However, that doesn’t guarantee his survival. A closer look at what he said next suggests one of the Spider-People might not live to see the end of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

The Fate of Peter B. Parker Sounds … Ominous?

When questioned about any details he could share concerning Spider-Man’s future in the next movie, Johnson’s answer was open to interpretation – it could have suggested good news or hinted at something troubling.

He said he was thrilled with how they were celebrating the character, adding that it was a really exciting tribute. He expressed his love for the character and his confidence in the filmmakers, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, noting they were treating the character with a lot of respect, which he thought was fantastic.

With that, there are two huge updates that have arrived in less than 60 days of each other.

Okay, so things are finally looking up for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. After a major shake-up in how they’re making the film – basically rebuilding the creative team and production structure – I’m hearing directly that one of the main voice actors is currently recording. That’s huge! If they keep this momentum going, the movie might actually hit its current release date of June 18th, 2027. It’s been a long road, but there’s a real glimmer of hope now.

That’s music to everyone’s ears, and it creates a noticeable tingle in everyone’s webs.
